www.si.com/college/2023/04/17/wac-asun-merge-united-athletic-conference-ncaa-footballIt looks like after all these years of rumors and hearsay, the UAC is finally happening. The WAC and ASUN are officially merging as a football-only FCS conference, with a playoff autobid. It will be known as the United Athletic Conference (UAC). If that name sounds familiar, it's because the UAC was part of Gumbart's crazy plan from a few years ago to split the ASUN's football schools off from the non-football schools and move up to FBS as a conference. And yes, that part of the plan is still on the table, even after the loss of Jax State, Kennesaw State, and, depending who you ask, Liberty. No word on what happens to the UAC when/if CUSA poaches EKU, SFA, or Tarleton. I'm sure they'll push forward. They're good kids. They try hard.

The OVC (remember those days?) has just made a huge addition, poaching a team from the mighty MVFC and Summit Leagues. OK, they added Western Illinois. Best I can do. If we were still in the ASUN, I'd speculate on whether this might encourage T-Tech or someone to move over to a more southern-based conference. But then I looked at the title of the post where I'm adding this reply.

But they have rebounded and now seem to have stabilized. I never had a major problem with the OVC other than it was more basketball oriented. We are in a better place now and they look like they will survive.

Y'all don't want to follow Dakota football for another 20 years? No other teams will win the championship.

Don’t follow FCS any longer… don’t care. We know what the results will be.

I've dropped several FCS follows from Twitter, with a few more likely coming as the season progresses.
The only FCS schools I'm remotely interested in now are those who could potentially become expansion targets for CUSA. That's a small handful, though, and I can check on them just as easily by scanning the Top 25 once every few weeks.
Don't get me wrong... I wish everyone else well. And I'll always pull harder for the ASUN teams than the OVC teams. But truth is, unless one of them is legitimately in line to win the championship, I really just don't care.

I will still watch FCS as I now watch DII, DIII and any other football. And AGS has the best political board so I will continue to watch and observe their great insight and debate.
