We are 5-1 and 1 win away from technically kinda being Bowl Eligible. But our next 4 games look pretty brutal. How do you think we handle it?
Vs. Liberty (currently 4-0 as of this post) Vs. WKU (3-2 with a loss to Ohio State) @ FIU (Road game in Miami) @ South Carolina (not much else to say)
I think 1-3 is more likely than not.

My 2 cents....
We lose to the lesser cocks. Beat FIU Split the other two - not sure which one we get by at this point...
Not a bad first FBS season at all!

I think 1-3 is more likely than not. I totally agree, but I think we'll steal at least one win we shouldn't. I picked 2-2.

I also voted 2-2, however believe that 1-3 is entirely plausible

This is only tangentially related to the poll question... but did anyone else have an odd sense of peace in the first half when we were down by 16?
I mean, it's not that I was OK with (seemingly at the time) losing. It's just that I'd gone into this game expecting two things:
1) MTSU on paper is a better, deeper, and more experienced team and should take control at some point and win the game.
2) No matter how far behind the Gamecocks are, they're going to keep fighting. There's no give up in their giddy up, as the kids say. (Related: Halftime adjustments are a thing now.)
So MTSU taking control didn't surprise me. I was a little shocked how fast it happened, but it was still expected.
And I knew that even if we didn't come back to win it, we'd still make the second half exciting. I was also a little shocked how fast that happened. But again ... expected.
And since it was all expected, I watched it unfold with an unusual degree of calm. A sort of Gamecock Zen.
I fully expect to feel the same way against Liberty, WKU, and the lessers. I'll probably expect a win against everyone else, so that'll probably ruin the Zen-like state for those games.

If we go 3&out 6 times in the first half we may find ourselves down too far to come back.

I felt the same. We were only down two scores ( I know two point conversions), but even the team didn't appear to be frazzled on the sideline. When we took the lead and MTSU wnt hurry up, their offense seemed more "gassed" then our defense.

I feel much more confident about USC jr than I do Liberty or Western Kentucky. Still think we win in Columbia.

4-0 baby! I can’t bring myself to pick against this team. They seem to have forgotten how to lose.

I want to see us play 4 full quarters like last night's 1.5 to end the game. If we hit lesser cackalacky with 4 full quarters we can prove they're not the real usc, not the real Carolina, and certainly not the REAL Gamecocks!

Other question... of the 17 people that voted something other than 0-4... what was your prediction of this 4 game stretch before the season?

I voted 1-3.
Preseason, I had us going 3-9 with wins over ETSU, SHSU, and FIU.
Happy to be wrong, and Liberty looks beatable right now.
