What year did the pregame show start? Man... time flies... I was thinking it was around the mid-2010s, close to time of the national championship game run. But it turns out, it was about five years earlier, around 2011. Crowe was still coach... wow. * EDIT: That actually sounds about right. Bodiford took a sabbatical around that time to be a G.A. at Bama as part of his doctoral work. Pregame (and a selection of new stand tunes) was added when he got back from that.

I was racking my brain because it feels like we've always done it, but now that I think about it, I can't remember it when I was a student 2003-2006.

Then, right after I graduated, I moved away for awhile and didn't start regularly attending again until probably 2011.

I think I've found the first one. It was Sept. 11, 2010, at pregame of the Chatty game.
This video cuts off most of the pregame performance, just showing the Fight Song, but they're clearly in the standard pregame drill set:
Another video from the same season (game unknown) showcasing the amazing video abilities of 2010-era cell phones:

The Sept 11 game against Chattanooga was the first after the expansion was finished?
I remember it was raining pregame, but someone turned on the weather machine.

Look how packed the visitors side is. It was standing room only.

Look how packed the visitors side is. It was standing room only. I have a picture of the endzone from that game, and it was slap full. There was another band directly in the middle. Did UTC bring their band?

No they didn’t but it may have been band day. It was. That explains it.

That's really cool. I remember the downpour. Also, I believe the chair backs on the old home side were still premium seating at that time. Later, when they stopped doing that, I sat over there a lot especially 2015 ish.
