I’m glad we’re actually discussing the possibility our coach does get a better job. Was this a concern under Crowe? Or Grass more than a year after we went to Frisco? This. I would 1000000% rather be discussing "is our coach going to get poached this year" over the "oh my God how many more years must we suck for the AD to move on" discussion. Means we're punching above our weight class. Why not discuss something positive like beating la tech and NMSU. Or why we aren't allowed to play in the ccg. Are we lesser members of CUSA.

It is a positive unless he actually leaves. You mourning his lose is not changing a thing. I'm not mourning anything, literally all I asked is if our coach gets swept up by the carousel. Am I mourning the fact we've crushed everyone's expectations of us this season? Nah.

We are an eight point favorite against LaTech. They are 3-8 and out of bowl contention. This is their last game of the season and after getting beat by 15 against Sammy on their Senior Day they’ve probably closed up shop mentally. Should be a big win for the band alums to watch. ESPN has us at 77.7%.
NMSU is a different story. They are 8-3 and will probably be favored. They have the CCG the next week so they want to stay sharp. We will also have motivation to be playing for second place in the league. If Liberty stumbles against UTEP, we’ll be playing for a co-championship.
As for us not being eligible for the CCG, I’m fine with it. It was a rule we were aware of when we signed up. Granted, we likely didn’t expect it to be relevant, but still. If we get in next year even though Kennesaw is actually ahead of us in the standings, I’m sure nobody will complain.
The reason for the rule (I assume) is because we can’t go to a bowl game without special circumstances. And since we likely won’t know about bowl eligibility until late in the day on November 25 (possibly dependent on a game in Hawaii that kicks at 10:00 CST) they don’t want to wait until the last minute to see if we are in a bowl. The conference doesn’t want the somewhat embarrassing situation of their champion not going to a bowl.

If we do go and we win along with the next two games we will be 10-3. That makes it 50/50. I think a lot depends on Texas A&M fall out. If the go after Kitten then CRR might be considered at Ol.Miss, not that he is located or takes it, but considered.at that point I would look at Zac Alley for JSUHC.

Anytime you hire someone with profile and proven success, it inherently comes with risk. We all know his agent will be approached by other teams. All you can do is provide a stable, positive environment for them to succeed, support their needs, and make them feel appreciated. It's like being married to the prettiest girl in the room... other suitors are coming, but don't give them any reason to look elsewhere. ps. Like Pubdaze I also didn't vote in this poll. pss. my wife is 18 yrs younger than me and a rocket so I speak from experience.

Remember CRR was an OC at Ole Miss. What terms did he leave under? Not everyone wants to return to a former employer.

I don’t see Ole Miss hiring him. State maybe.

The TAMU situation was what prompted the thread. I wasn't worried about Michigan State or any of the other major openings. But TAMU can literally get anyone they want and there will be a massive ripple effect from it.

I don’t really have any issue with this discussion. We have an upper tier coach and this sort of discussion is common. It doesn’t really affect anything. Recruits reading the forum will talk to the coaches and that outweighs any negative impact such discussion might have. Every fan base of every program with success deals with this.

Ross Dellenger @rossdellenger · 17m · Mississippi State is targeting Oklahoma OC Jeff Lebby as its next coach, sources tell @yahoosports . Deal not done, but discussions are expected to result in a hire.
Lebby is a former assistant under offensive minds like Art Briles, Josh Heupel and Lane Kiffin.
