Thought we would have a shot at Jeff Sims but he committed to Miami, don’t see him being the starter there and they are hitting the portal for much higher rated Qbs

I feel pretty good about our QB room for next season. I’m hoping we can land several D-linemen. We are in a major need of a QB, guess you didn’t watch this year I watched us go 8-4 this year. Our coach seems pretty high on our returning QB’s for next year and if you’re unaware, he has a pretty good track record of evaluating and developing QB’s. Meanwhile your prediction that Jeff Sims “Power5 playing days are over with” didn’t age very well. As YOU point out shortly thereafter, he commits to Power5 Miami.

Does anyone know what happened to QB Aaron Mclaughlin? I know he entered the portal last year, but I can't find proof he landed anywhere. He's just another in a long line of players who either contributed (or had the potential to contribute) at JSU, entered the Portal, and vanished off the face of the earth. I think aliens may be involved. Speak of the devil! Hope he lands in a good spot.

Backup QB at Auburn, Ashdod’s, has entered the portal. His family lives in Birmingham. He could start immediately here. I’m hoping we’ve at least asked.

I haven't watched any Auburn in a couple of years, so I looked him up on YouTube. Most of his highlights were with his legs, which bodes well for our offensive scheme. I think we're all hoping for an arm-talent upgrade, which I'm not sure he provides. But maybe getting away from SEC defenses is what he needs to blossom. To be clear, we don't need a sniper or cannon at QB. If we have a guy who's a Jalen Hurts-type, we'll be in the conference title game. I'm hoping our next QB gives has the arm talent to hit guys in stride on crossing patterns or swinging out on wheel routes. (I'm also hoping we call plays that allow receivers to attack the chains, rather than turning back towards the line of scrimmage and awaiting a pass.) At any rate, this would be his second transfer, which means he may have to sit out a year or transfer down to FCS. Everything is up in the air while the NCAA is in this court battle.

I don’t believe anyone has to sit out a year anymore.

I don’t believe anyone has to sit out a year anymore. We're in weird holding pattern. Second-time transfers are eligible to play immediately, but that is only good until spring sports conclude. That doesn't particularly help us since football is a fall sport. If the ruling goes in the NCAA's favor, 2nd time transfers may have to sit again come July 1.
