So far, where have our "former" players landed through the portal? The only one I have seen confirmed so far is Bausley to the cheating Kentucky Wildcats.

Galban could be an All American at that level. Hate to see him go, but glad he found somewhere he can get some targets.

It's not JSU, but it IS important Transfer Portal news which I haven't seen reported here yet...
Liberty QB Kaidon Salter has withdrawn from the Portal and will be returning to the Flames next fall, bringing his 2,876 passing yards, 1,089 rushing yards and 44 TDs with him.
I thought for a moment we'd caught a break. Guess the Gamecocks will have to win the conference the good ol' fashioned way: by beating the best.

Here is another one. On3 has Devin Baldwin listed as being in the portal and he is not on our 2024 roster, so I guess he is gone. He came to us this year from UMASS with two years left, so now he goes to his fourth school. He was at Rutgers before UMASS. I know he can't be getting big NIL money from these schools. He was a role player that showed some promise but not a star player at this point. Sometime, kids just like to be recruited I guess.

Some guys miss the attention they got when they were high school stars posting all their offers, taking visits, staging photo shoots, and making a commitment video/graphic.

Some kids are encouraged to leave for a variety of reasons.

Some kids are encouraged to leave for a variety of reasons. That's true. But three times?

According to the Star, here are other players that entered the portal. I don't believe these have been mentioned in this thread before.
Terramce Alexander, CB Kacey Battle, S Jayson Jones, WR Quinn Warren, DL
These are no longer on the roster but are not listed in the portal yet. Christian Thomas, WR Kevin Ellis, DL Tristan Wells, LB Carson McCauley, P Kenyon Sims, RB Demarco Hopkins, RB

Scholarships are year-to-year. If a player isn't performing to the expected standard, or is a, um, bad fit (cancerous attitude, malcontent, just plain lazy, whatever) then he's going to lose that scholarship. Guys are seldom "kicked off the team" anymore. They just enter the Portal. In the case of bad grades, rather than suffer through the ignominy of being forced to sit out a year due to grades, these guys will enter the Portal, then quietly disappear. If they turn things around in a year or two, they may end up on someone's roster again. Most don't. They go home, get a job, and football becomes a thing they used to do. (This is depressing as hell to think about, but it's real, even in today's world of "academic support teams".) And of course, there are the guys who you hate to lose. Dominant on the field, leaders off the field, getting it done in class. One (illegal) phone call from a P5 coach or booster and they're gone. "How much they paying you down in Jacksonville? What d'ya think you'd do with $50,000 in your pocket this fall?" I mean, we all think we'd be loyal, but seriously... when I was 18 or 19, I probably would've sold my kidney for the money being thrown around for some of these guys. And I didn't grow up in poverty. Reality for some of these guys is going home from a bowl game, finding out the kid two houses down got shot in a bad drug deal, getting a call offering life-changing NIL money, and spending Christmas looking at his mom and/or grandma thinking, "I can change this for all of us and I don't have to wait til the NFL to do it." Then you have those who are just chasing the cash. Or chasing the thrill of recruitment. Or chasing a starting job. Or chasing the NFL, thinking they'll only get drafted if they play in the SEC or Big Ten. Then you have grad transfers needing a different school for their master's, or undergrads who change majors and realize the school they signed with is a bad fit for their new academic path. This happens to regular non-athlete students every day. There's no reason it shouldn't happen to athletes as well. Bottom line: there are far too many reasons (some legitimate, some less so) for players to enter the Portal to ascribe motive without any additional information, so generally speaking, I'll just wish these guys well and hope they find a home somewhere. I wanna be recruited!!!!!!! Wasn't that a Ramones song...?

Is it just me or does it seem like we aren’t doing much in the portal? Everyone else seems to be making plays for big time talent and I haven’t really seen us do that. I’m not doubting CRR and staff, because they know the team much better than I. This is merely a personal observation.

Too much information between transfers and high school recruiting.
