Have lost 5 in a row and have not looked very good in doing so. Gonna be a tough year with this schedule.
Jim Case did not leave this program in very good shape.

I was hoping 8-8 was a fresh starting point for wins... not a losing streak.
We are in a bad spot ... must be Eli's fault.

The team has played 6 of its last 7 games on the road:
Three against #122 Southern Illinois. One against #86 Samford. Three against #88 La Tech.
All three are ranked higher than Jax State (#132).
Patience, guys.

Patience, guys. Right. The competition in CUSA is far greater than any previous league and not by a tiny margin. We have a few teams in or sniffing the top 25. Also, this is Coach B’s first season. Let’s let him get some of his guys in there and establish the culture he desires. The man transformed Mizzou from a bottom dweller to an SEC competitor. Let’s just give him some time.

Just watched the Auburn game for 4 innings. This team has the weakest pitching staff in some time. I am so thankful for RichRod. I feel we are falling further and further behind in our other sports.

Well we did hire a guy that finished dead last year after year in the sec . Why is this so shocking ?

I'm confused did he make mizzouri a contender or did he have a losing season year after year. Surely both can be true.

He finished last his final three seasons at Missouri.

I'm confused did he make mizzouri a contender or did he have a losing season year after year. Surely both can be true. He had some teams that had pretty good overall records but never really did well in the conference. So, he didn't have losing records year after year but he did have losing conference records year after year.

He finished last his final three seasons at Missouri. He never made it to Hoover to the sec tournament. Steve Bieser Head Coach Record Year-by-Year at Mizzou 2022: 28-23 // 10-20 SEC 2021: 15-36 // 8-22 SEC 2020: 11-5 // 0-0 SEC *season cut short due to COVID-19 2019: 34-22-1 // 13-16-1 SEC 2018: 34-22 // 12-18 SEC 2017: 36-23 // 14-16 SEC TOTALS: 158-131-1 (.546) // 57-92-1 SEC (.383)

He did have some very good teams at SEMO, winning the conference 3 straight years.

If Bieser had been winning championships in the SEC, he would not be coaching at Jax State. I mean, the SEC is like the SEC of baseball. (H/T to Yogi Berra.)
But seriously... the SEC has 14 teams (this season) and only one of those -- Mizzou, ironically enough -- would be ranked lower than 3rd place in CUSA.
In fact, if DBU, the CUSA team with the highest RPI (#19), were to move to the SEC, they would currently be sitting in 9th place in the conference. NINTH.
Second place Sammy (#36) would be in 12th. (That's without DBU.)
And La Tech (#80), one of the teams that smacked us around on the road this week, would be second from last.
So let's all back up a second. Take a deep breath. And look at what we know to be true:
* Jim Case left the cupboard bare. * Several of the players Case DID leave behind transferred away as soon as he retired. * A few of those transfers went to Auburn (#38), who also just smacked us around on the road this week. * Our NIL situation is bad all around. Outside football, it's turrible. Just turrible. (H/T to Charles Barkley.) * Bieser is currently only 24 games (and 9 months) into his first season in Jacksonville. * In his first season at SEMO in 2013, Bieser finished 26-33 (13-17 OVC). * Bieser would go on to win the OVC for the next three seasons straight.
Even if he were in his 3rd or 4th year as Gamecock coach and we were sitting at 9-15 overall, with an 0-3 conference record, I'd *still* be preaching patience. Our nonconference schedule was a bear. That's a big reason why our RPI has shot up from somewhere in the 200s to its current #140. There is a very real shot we will end up as high as 4th in CUSA this season. And that's with the bare cupboard and lousy NIL and inexperienced pitching.
What's going to happen once the roster is filled with players recruited by Bieser rather than Case?
I'm not saying we have to hold onto a losing coach forever. To build on the hypothetical I posted two paragraphs back, if Bieser were finishing up his 3rd or 4th season and the Gamecocks were firmly entrenched in the CUSA cellar with a comfy chair and our favorite photos on the wall, then yeah. It'd be time to look elsewhere.
But we're not there yet. Not by a longshot. Give the man time to show you what he can do. Without NIL, he can't just tamper with other mid-major teams and dangle $100K and a new car in front of some sophomore phenom to become our new starting pitcher.
Bieser's got to do it the good ol' fashioned way. Recruiting. And recruiting takes time.
Patience. He'll get us there.

2 gold stars to Whup for working in quotes from Yogi & Chuck in the same post. And a 3rd for being a calm voice of reason & logic.
