Thought I would offer up a thread dedicated to good beers. Every time I try a beer I have never had before, as my travel is starting back up now, I am going to leave a review. Would love to see other reviews if you try something new to you. Even if you have never tried PBR on draft, please tell us what you think once you do! First review coming this weekend when I partake out on my back patio. I’ve often thought about starting a TikTok, video blog, or a podcast on beer and football. Who knows…

So I moved to the Craft Beer capital of the US last year when I moved up to Grand Rapids. Lots of great local stuff around. When the furniture industry moved out a lot of small breweries moved in.
New Holland is my favorite brewery I've found so far up here. But there's plenty of other great stuff from Old Nation (their M43 is my go to) in Lancing and Bell's Oberon from Kalamazoo is a local favorite.
Also when I was in New York a couple weeks ago I found a beer brewed in Maine by Allagash. Their White was fantastic.

My Gold Standard for IPA is and remains Creature Comforts "Tropicalia". Other breweries are producing some outstanding contenders but it remains at the top for me.

The Seoulite Ale is only 5.0. The ipa is 6.3...but they are tall boys. Nothing like Red Horse 12%. That stuff tastes like garbage. Korean Ales are quite nice...like a mellow version of Hop Bot IPA. It is 7% here.. Dunno if it is the same in America.

PBR is the best mass-market lager in America.
I can't for the life of me understand how it developed a reputation as a "hipster beer" in the 2000s. That said, it doesn't surprise me at all that people mistake it for cheap redneck swill. It's definitely one of the cheaper brands out there. It's tough looking at a beer in the same price point as Natty Lite and Keystone and thinking, "I'll bet this tastes great!"
And yet, it does...

GR has a whole lot more than 26. We're up over 80 in the area. With nearly 50 just in town. assets.simpleviewcms.com/simpleview/image/upload/v1/clients/grandrapids/ExpGR_2019_Beer_Map_sheet_0bf6ab57-4d80-4882-a971-ed0d40c820c9.pdf

Here in the SE - Atlanta and surrounding suburbs, B'Ham and Huntsville all have a pretty strong craft beer vibe going on IMO.

On this, our last day in the OVC, I hope we'll all remember to drink a cold one* in remembrance of our dear departed old conference home.
* A fine sipping whiskey works too.

They started using the brand to sponsor concerts and other events to boost sales.
