I am going to share about the crap that has gone on with our move to Vietnam, but not in this post. It has been pretty horrid...mostly because of Covid. I am at recess between grade 7 classes. I have 2 sections of grade 7 English. Both sections are good. I am really enjoying the kids and they are mostly active and have pretty good English levels. There are a few lower level ELL students, but most are capable of doing the work.
Grade 6 though... I have 2 sections, and most of them cannot even speak in basic sentences. The parents are already complaining that it is too hard... but this is an international school, not a bilingual school or language academy. The sad thing is, the complaints came after our first day when the lesson was watered down to "What are nouns?" and simple sentences beginning with "Bob ate." before adding a direct object and prepositional phrase to end up with "Bob ate pho at the mall." In one class we added an adjective "Bob ate delicious pho at the mall."
Ugh. You signed your kids up for an American school, not a language school.
