I’m finally at the point to where I can take advantage of the credit card companies. I bought my wife a new MacBook Air on Apple Card from Goldman Sachs. 0% for 12 months… they will get no interest from me.

Really not much different than when we used to buy a piece of furniture for “12 months same as cash”. The key, of course, is to make sure you send in 1/12 of the price every month and keep an eye on the day the interest drops so it is paid off before that happens. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Everytime you use a card they make a min of like 50 cents from the merchant And a percent of purchase. So the more you use it the more they like it the last thing they want is for you to use someone else's. With that said discover does seem to be the more conservative with bumping your limit. Yeah we just finished building a house, paying for most of the material costs on our Amex. And at first I felt a little bad for Jax Home Center having to pay those Amex fees, but then they kept applying fuel surcharges (even back before the recent fuel hikes) for every little delivery, so I saw it as a bit of payback.

I recently used my Cap One Quicksilver cash back card to book tickets through a Vietnamese travel agent. The exchange rate they give me is better than the normal rate, and they give cash back... the company is reimbursing me at the standard rate. I am going to end up making a couple hundred bucks off of it. Cha-ching!

I made a couple hundred in cash back off my Discover card last year. Traveling for work makes it easy to rack up points.

I just got 130,000 bonus reward points at Hilton brand hotels for using my new AMEX card a bunch in the first couple months I had it. All my purchases get me more points and gas and restaurants (which I use a lot having a travel job) count extra. Card is no fee for a year. I will cancel it before that after I have milked it for as much as I can. We spent eight nights in hotels on a trip this summer and our total bill was zero. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Hotel points are always handy. I got about 350k at Hilton and 400k at Marriott right now. Gonna have to find a way to spend them eventually. I think maybe a trip to Hawaii or Europe. Or both. Branded cards arent usually beneficial for me because I pay for my flights and hotels with the company card. My daily card is an AmEx Gold and I get 4x at restaurants and grocery stores. Which works out great because I get per deim on the road and pay food out of pocket.

I don’t have to fly for work and hotels are directly billed to my employer. No per diem, but I do get reimbursed for my meals so that adds up quickly.
I try to limit my hotels to only two or three brands so my points don’t get spread too thin.

After buying tickets for this summer I decided to get an AMEX Delta Skymiles card. Hopefully it will pay off. The annual fee is a hundred bucks but the potential for savings on airfare is significant.

Before I go any farther YOU MUST PAY THE BALANCE EACH MONTH. If you can't then do not use the card. Everything by everybody is on a card. The card depends on the perks. Greatest thing to brag about...one week in Hawaii for the family for $44.80 plus food. Free hotel and only $11.45 per ticket from Atlanta to Honolulu. I used miles and points for the trip and have saved almost $14k in auto purchases over the last twenty years.

If you want to rack up SkyMiles, what I do is I have the AmEx Gold Card. Not the Delta Gold, the standard AmEx Gold. It's less than half the price of the Delta AmEx, and I get 4 points per dollar on groceries and restaurants. You get AmEx Rewards points, but you can transfer them 1 to 1 into SkyMiles. So that's what I do. I currently have 150k points burning a hole in my pocket. My current problem is not enough PTO to use them. Next year.

Not sure if it works on the Gold card but with the Platinum you can choose your primary airline and receive a 35% rebate on points for any flight with the airline. You also receive the same rebate on first class seats with any airline. There is also a bonus to 1.5x points on all purchases over $5000 with the platinum and the Delta Reserve gives you 1.5x after you spent $150000 per year (pretty sure this is the correct amount). These are business cards not sure if personal are the same.

The gold is just $100 per year and doesn’t get you into Skyclub. I don’t travel frequently enough for skyclub benefits to be worth it, but I travel a lot of miles per trip due to living in Southeast Asia. I do fly a lot IN Southeast Asia, but there are no sky clubs in most airports… and I generally don’t arrive any earlier than I have to. Delta shares lounges with skyteam partners in SEA, and I have other items to gain entry to those already if I want.

Disregard.
