A former SEC HC preferring a coordinator role could also be Jeremy Pruitt. (He'd probably make more sense than Muschamp for someone to have contacted, since his son played for JSU.) I hope we can do much better than Pruitt Be realistic please. Pruitt is out of our league if he wasnt suing Tennessee

Pruitt is my #1 Target if I was Seitz. Do not think he will take or be offered the job but Pruitt would be a good coach and a top name for us. Everything Ive heard he has little to no interest in the JSU job. Things change but it would be a huge surprise for Jeremy to become interested. NFL may be his home for awhile. Grown children make a NFL pretty nice. No recruiting or worries about your children growing up in New York City area.

Seems like we have gotten of the beaten path in this thread. Also, when do you think the new HC will be announced?

As I stated on some thread, information from a reliable sources is hard to get. Jody Wright and Ron Cooper are my only two names from what I would consider reliable. Would be hard to believe these are the only two. JSU as a FBS will create a lot of interest from people who many of us would be surprised to hear their names. Good gameday atmosphere, close to a large population, college town and nice looking coeds is an attractive recruiting offer. The transfer portal really changes the game too.

With a private firm rumored to be doing the vetting, I don't expect any leaks until the very end.

Do ya'll think that one of the parameters of the coaching search is to have some past or present affiliation with the University?

Thanks. Just seems like in times past, that is the path they have traveled the most.

It's nice if you can get it, but if JSU were deciding between Lincoln Riley and Jody Wright, as attractive a candidate as Jody Wright would be, you'd have to take Riley. I used an extreme example here, but there could be some candidates out there with no ties to Jax State, but with big name recognition and/or experience. If one of them comes across your desk, you don't toss his resume in the shredder because he attended school and coached somewhere not here. That said, if it's a choice between some random assistant with no HC experience vs. Jody Wright, assuming both candidates were interested and both knocked their interviews out of the park, you would probably give the edge to Wright because of his ties. JSU learned the hard way with CBC... ties don't equate to a long-term stay. If a coach at our level (even as a CUSA school) does a good job, he'll be hired away sooner than later. So hire the best you can for as long as you can. And when he moves on, hire the best replacement you can. And so on. If enough coaches keep doing a great job, we'll eventually be at a level where the number of schools who can poach our coaches becomes very, very small.

That’s a plus right? Kidding, just kidding.

Why, just why can’t we give Paul Johnson a call? I know he’d probably say no thanks, but…. He just might consider us. He would be a great pick in my book.

Hard to recruit to the TO. GaSo and Ga Tech are having a tough time separating their legacy with recruits.

Hard to recruit to the TO. GaSo and Ga Tech are having a tough time separating their legacy with recruits. Transitioning to a whole new offense such as the TO would be a challenge while transitioning to FBS at the same time. And he will be 65 next fall so he wouldn’t stay that long anyway. Unless he is just looking to get out of his wife’s hair, I doubt he ever coaches again. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

No. We need somebody that can win or has the desire to win. Every game. Not just half of them.
