I hope Uriah West gets the ball 500 times a game under this guy. I keep going back to this article, which previewed what Rich Rod's offense might look like at Ole Miss, after he was hired as OC there: Hey Coach? Uriah West works.

200-300 rushing yards a game?
Am I dreaming?

FYI, to continue the stats in that last image I posted...
2018 - Rich Rod took a year off to watch his son play. 2019 - OLE MISS - Total Offense YPG: 445.3 - Pass YPG: 194.0 - Rush YPG: 251.3 - Scoring Offense: 26.58 PPG 2020 - did not coach 2021 - ULM - Total Offense YPG: 328.4 - Pass YPG: 194.0 - Rush YPG: 134.4 - Scoring Offense: 20.92 PPG
Just to put these numbers in a little better context:
AT Ole Miss, Rich Rod inherited an offense hammered by three years of NCAA probation and bowl bans dating back to the Hugh Freeze era. The 2019 Rebels team included a whopping 65 freshman and sophomores. Ole Miss fired head coach Matt Luke to hire Lane Kiffin, before the team had a chance to fully adapt to Rich Rod's offense and Mike MacIntyre's defense. (Both coordinators were hired in 2019.)
At ULM, Rich Rod inherited an 0-10 team whose 2020 offense only scored 16.30 PPG. Other lowlights of the 2020 ULM Offense: Total Offense YPG: 305.7 - Pass YPG: 229.40 - Rush YPG: 76.3. They were *bad*.
Similarly, the 2011 Arizona team finished 4-8. A year later, in Coach Rod's first season there, he turned that around to 8-5. Over the next six seasons, the Wildcats averaged 7 wins. In the years since his firing, they've averaged only 3 wins in full, non-COVID seasons, plus a winless 5-game season in 2020. They were terrible before him. They've been terrible since. While he was there, they played in one Pac-12 championship game and 5 bowl games, winning 3 of them.

Holy cow, look at that. For the most part a pretty good balance, maybe leaning a little more to the run game. I'm a fan!

So has anyone heard ANYTHING about a defensive hire?
I'm starting to worry that defense is being treated as an afterthought.

Rich Rod said in the press conference that some hires won’t be in until January. Maybe DC is one of them.

Some DC’s may be waiting to see what opens up for them.

THE REIGN OF OGLE IS OVER. Meaning what? Meaning we get to burn our Fisher Price playbook once and for all.
