JSU wins 76 to 65. The teams were tied many times in the game but JSU was never behind.
A few thoughts:
EKU doesn't appear to be as good as in the past. Zeliznak shows real improvement. Huffman looked good tonight. I hope that continues. He hasn't looked very good this season compared to last.
Thoughts?

Solid road win. A game we should win but the type we have been choking this season.
I'm curious how we handle FGCU at home and Liberty on the road. If we finish January undefeated I might have to hop on the wagon.

Do we have to go undefeated? We will lose some games especially to top ranked teams. This is spot on… Unfortunately there are a few “fans” who live to whine. If the team meets or exceeds the whiners latest “sky is falling” pronouncement, such as winning their last two road conference games, they simply reset their standard hoping the team fails to meet it. For them it is not about being a “Big Fan of Jax State” or even wanting success. It’s all about the Whine.

I guess some people are just more accepting of mediocrity and living under a veil of feigned success. You can question my fandom if it makes you feel better about yourself, I don't really care. It seems to be something you enjoy so more power to you. But I really think you and I just have different hopes for the team. This season we haven't beat a single D1 team with a winning record vs. other D1 schools. But we cupcake munched our way to a record above .500 and you seem content with that. We play up and down to our competition and you seem content with that. We just fired a football coach for cupcake munching and having no postseason success but "this is basketball and having higher hopes for the program is unreasonable" or some such silliness. My hope is that we can win whatever conference we are in more often than we have in the past and that we start making the Dance every so often so that 2017 doesn't stand alone as our 'Cinderella season'. Even if we don't make the Dance let's at least be one of the teams that gets invited to the NIT and makes some noise. Between the Dance and the NIT there are 100 invited schools. Being in the top 100 yearly (or nearly yearly) shouldn't be that big an ask. I've long said on here that of we truly want to elevate the status of the university on a national level that it's done through basketball. Not just the FBS. Yeah some people will talk about our Florida State win. But most people outside of the JSU and the Ole Miss fandom don't know or care that we beat Ole Miss. By contrast, on a given year, upwards of 100 million brackets are filled out for March Madness. 100 MILLION. Every single one has "Jacksonville State" on it. And should we ever be fortunate to steal a win, we are the talk of the town because we single-handedly shattered 99 million of them. That's what I want for the team. Now go on... Tell me to "get-real" or tell me "it's just basketball we can't always win" and tell me I'm a fake fan for having higher hopes than what you deem acceptable. We have one single solitary Conference Championship in the past 30 years. THIRTY. Maybe you're used to it. Maybe you don't care. But I want more.

Maybe it’s because you put stipulations on your fandom by saying things like, “IF they go undefeated in January, I MIGHT jump on the wagon.” If you have watched this team play this year, you will see a team that plays hard to the final buzzer. They are a very good shooting team, solid rebounding team, and a very good defensive team. Turnovers still continue to be a problem, but I think that just has to do with the makeup of the team. We don’t have that real solid point guard that can always handle the ball well and deliver a lot of assists. Wish we did, but we don’t. Harper has done a good job of letting players just do what they are good at. They are not a perfect team by a long shot, and will lose when they are playing more talented teams but they always seem to be in the game no matter who they are playing. Placing stipulations on a basketball team that they must go undefeated just sounds like a football mentality. Hopefully, you realize that there are no undefeated college basketball teams at this point in the season. The only time going undefeated matters is when you get to the Conference Tournament. Everything else is about improving until you get there. I don’t know if you understand the game or not. I am pretty confident that basketball is not your favorite sport. That’s ok, but there are others that do love it and we can see what Harper is doing with this team. With football, we tend to live and die with every game. With basketball, you just have to enjoy the ride through ups and downs and see how it finishes up.

With basketball, you just have to enjoy the ride through ups and downs and see how it finishes up. The "we have to go undefeated" line was mostly a sarcastic throw away. But honestly we're a good enough team that the game with Liberty should be a meeting between two undefeated ASun teams. I agree that going undefeated doesn't really matter until the tourney but I've always subscribed to the "you perform how you practice" mentality. Our OOC schedule saw the team play high and play low. They play hard but have been really sloppy at times. We're undefeated in the ASun. So I hope we can keep the momentum rolling and treat every game as if it's our last. Minimize the sloppy turnovers. (We're 295 out of 350 right now in turnovers per game which is abysmal) Because if we can do that, then everything I outlined in my last post can happen. Maybe I'm bitter because after watching our football team shoot themselves in the foot for years I really don't care to watch the basketball follow suit. In our performance against Alabama we only turned it over 9 times. Imagine how badly we beat Troy if we don't turn it over 22 times. That's what bugs me.

It really comes to the conference tournament. But you want as high a seed as possible with all games being on campus. Winning the division keeps you at home at least through the semi-finals.

Basketball is truly a different animal from football. It’s not that people don’t care about basketball but that a good even great teams will have losses even to lesser teams. Especially on the road. I think most see weekly improvement and are looking forward to what is to come. Hopefully more improvement.

I'm glad that the team proved this "we are just gonna lose because it's basketball" idea to be a crock.

I think you miss the point. We won’t likely win every game. But it’s not the end of the world. Your showing your age again.
