Making the game on a Tuesday kinda stinks for all the people who aren't within a stones throw of Jacksonville that would like to go. But then again, I'm sure in our case that minority is very small. Weekday games make it hard for anyone outside the immediate Calhoun County area (and nearly impossible for anyone with school-aged kids) but the decision was made (or at least, pushed) by some suit at ESPN, and if you told him this, he'd cock his head to the side, give you a confused look, and say, "But... that's why you stay home and watch it on ESPN...?" That said, crowd size is a very good reason for holding games on campus instead of in a central location. I attended enough playoff games in my time in the pep band (both in D-I and in D-II) to see the clear difference between a packed, crazy house full of fans and a 3/4 empty 10,000-seat arena in a major city containing nothing but a few affluent alumni, some players' families, and a handful of locals who are just there because they like the game of basketball. Give me the crazies all day long. Even if I have to watch it on TV... Oh I completely agree the atmosphere on campus will be a million times better than Evansville or wherever the heck. But Tuesdayyyyyy. Ugh.
