Zoom in on the pic of the bed in this tweet. Top left of the bed pic. Looks like the new cock head. Maybe this is just me, but I'm not a big fan of that logo. It just feels to cartoon-y to me. Kind of like a high school logo. Edit: I just scrolled up and saw sinfoniansoutherner's post. Glad I'm not the only one that thought of cartoon-y lol I like it for a secondary logo. If it were to be official I think it would be tweaked a bit. Reminds me of coastal Carolina and their cartoon Chanticleer. Could be tough on a helmet. Appeals to the younger generation. We need a primary logo with “J” as the dominant. I believe it will only be JMU and is that will be FBS with a J as a primary initial? And they mainly use an “M” for Madison. Old English J that the baseball team has been using? Could be a good starting point. It’s refreshing to see the university taking marketing and branding seriously. Actual heard a radio commercial for JSU in Chattanooga last week.

The Nebraska guy was doing the OK sign. Which is kind of odd, since OK is short for their (former) biggest rival. Now he is signaling #1, which is a better look anyway. But anyone seriously offended by the mascot needs to chill. I think a lot of the OK signs people display are just trying to trigger people who get upset about it. That being said, I hate “Fear the beak” and the hand gesture and not because it is supposed to be racist. I just think it is contrived and stupid. Good for RichRod if he wants it gone. I also think the athletic department should brand itself as “Jax State”. It is unique and avoids confusion with places in Florida and Mississippi. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk How is fear the beak supposed to be racist?

I meant the hand gesture and the whole uproar about the OK sign being some white supremacy thing.

Is being OK not a good thing for all races? If you want to be upset you will find something to be upset about, I guess.

This is almost getting out of hand (pun?) with the hand signal thing, but:
It started when a white supremacy group, and one branch of the Klan started using it to represent “White Power”. Brought the pointer finger in against the thumb in a little more to form a “P” with the other three upright fingers forming a “W”.
Anything can be bad when a hateful group uses it for an evil purpose. Ruins it for everyone. I don’t think hardly anyone though JSU was racist for it though lol.
All that to say, our “Fear The Beak” was more pointed, and didn’t resemble it.
And all THAT to say, let’s just get something new.

Seems I've seen that somewhere in some old JSU programs, newspapers, annuals, or something.

That Gamecock head isn't going to cut it. The logo needs to be simple enough that it look great embroidered on a shirt or hat, and that won't. As I have been saying for years, the primary logo needs to be the letter J. We would be the only school using just the letter J. You can write Jacksonville inside the J on the top bar, you can a put a "STATE" ribbon in front of the J like MS State does. It just has to be a big red J.

The "OK" sign was NEVER used by the Klan or any other white supremacy group. It was a 4chan troll. Just like when they called white milk racist. It's amazing how deeply their trolls can integrate themselves into "common belief" when the media doesn't bother checking their sources. This, of course, was precisely the reason 4chan chose to troll them. Modern journalists, especially on the national level, are idiots and tools. All that to say, "Fear the Beak" (the slogan, not the sign) is stupid and needs to go. And while I'm OK with keeping the FTB sign (see what I did there?), I can't look at it without thinking of this one or two game stretch in 1991 when a few students (including a couple of cheerleaders) tried to appropriate the Atlanta Braves' newly appropriated (from FSU) "tomahawk chop" into what they called the "Cock Chop". I mean, the FTB sign works fine as a simple hand gesture. But combining it with a chopping motion and "Ooooh-ooh-o-o-oooohhh" was the height of dumb. It's no wonder it didn't take off.

Jesus Christ. This is out of hand. Hold up the fear the beak sign if you want to. If it offends you, get the hell over it. Nobody cares about your feelings or mine.

I don't do the fear the beak out of the thought process of ....I hate it. Never liked it and it reminds of BEEEEEEEEEHLER. I'll stick with Go Cocks. That offends everyone and makes me laugh, perfect combo.

Hey, guys... I don't think anything's out of hand or anyone's gotten triggered.
Go back and read the thread again. It's short.
Someone mentioned Nebraska changing their logo (NEBRASKA ... THEIR LOGO) to remove an "offending" gesture. Someone else asked what the gesture was. A couple people explained it. Not a single person recommended ending the FTB gesture because they took offense.
They just don't like "Fear the Beak" as a slogan.
And I mentioned the night tremors I get from the FTB thing when I remember the Cock Chop.
I mentioned the night tremors, right?
