This is a big week so I’m starting this thread now.
We have two games at home. Win both and we are regular season champs. That keeps us at home for the whole tournament and a guaranteed NIT bid if we don’t win it.
Right now we are a game up on Bellarmine in the division but we swept them so one win clinches the division. We are tied with Liberty for best overall but again we own the tiebreaker. Jacksonville is a game behind us but we also beat them.
Wednesday we play EKU. We beat them 76-65 on January 15. They are 4-10 in the league and 12-16 overall.
Saturday we play UNA. We won 65-55 on January 8. They are 2-12 and 9-18.
Other games to watch: Liberty at Central Arkansas (Monday) FGCU at Liberty (Wednesday) Lipscomb at Bellarmine (Wednesday) Kennesaw at Liberty (Saturday) Bellarmine at EKU (Saturday)

FGCU beats Liberty. This makes us the conference champs. We have home court in the ASUN tournament and a guaranteed NIT bid at worst.
Congratulations, Coach Harper and the Gamecocks!!!

Woot! A likely 20 win season. No worse than NIT and a legit chance at the dance. CUSA will be moderately more difficult in terms of competition with WKU in our conference, but we can compete with them. Harper is building something. We aren’t a finished product but we are a program on the rise. How distant do the days of Greene seem now?
I just realized that our previous basketball coach abbreviated was CJG. What a coincidence…

What a coincidence… Let’s not compare CJG and CJG. Grass won 78 games in eight seasons. Green won 89 in eight seasons, despite playing over twice as many games as Grass. "Firing Green was a mistake. JSU's ceiling in D-I basketball is only 15 games. We're just not a basketball school. We'll regret hiring Ray Harper."
A dude on Facebook really said those exact words back in 2016.
Same guy also crapped on JSU's firing of Jack Crowe *and* John Grass and thinks we're stupid for moving to FBS. He's got quite the prognosticative brain on him. A veritable Nostradamus.

Crowe was good for 6-7 wins a year but never really rising above that. He did a decent job and wasn’t a bad coach, but after 13 years it was obvious he had hit his ceiling and wasn’t taking us to the next level.
Grass was better, but he was also at his ceiling and isn’t the person to lead us into FBS.
It is hard to publicly justify firing Grass based on his record (which was very good) but with the move up (which was likely known by Seitz some time ago) we needed a change as Grass had also outlived his usefulness.
Green just flat out sucked. In eight years he lost 20 games three times and 19 twice. Had one winning season and was at .500 in the OVC twice. Best league finish was tied for fourth in the division.
If he had averaged 17 wins a year your buddy might have a point. But he averaged eleven.

Love having no pressure on Saturday, would be cool to see guys get some rest and see what we have on the bench a little more.
Sure, run the score up early on little brother tuna, but then let the bench get some minutes.
We NEED a packed house next Thursday and Sunday, for the Men and Women, respectfully. Can’t waste this opportunity to have a true home court advantage for postseason.
Go Gamecocks!!
