I feel confident that G5 bowl games are drawing more eyes than FCS playoff games.

I hope the g5 will develop its own playoff when the p5 leave. Frankly I hope they hurry up and do it.

The ASUN and WAC will revive their football alliance in 2023. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk The alliance actually begins this fall, since JSU and SHSU are ineligible for the playoffs and Tarleton and Utah Tech have not yet completed their D2=>FCS transition. The details of how the autobud will be awarded are still being worked out. This could potentially be messy for both conferences, since there's no schedule overlap in 2022 as there was last fall. Both SFA and KSU are highly ranked, and EKU's not far behind. You could potentially wind up with a Top 10 team from the WAC and a Top 10 team from the ASUN, with one of those two having to rely on an at-large bid to get in the playoffs. That said, I don't think a Top 10 team will find itself sitting at home without a playoff bid. (Probably not even a Top 15. After that, it starts to get dicey.) It's a calculated risk.

Didn’t know they were sharing an autobid this year. I saw where the WAC wants to fast track their D2 call ups so they get to the required number faster.
I wish them well but glad to be out of that mess.

I wish them well but glad to be out of that mess. I think there was initial uncertainty about whether JSU and SHSU would count toward the minimum AQ number. Turns out, we don't. (Neither do the D-II transitional teams.)

I bet the Southland is sitting back and laughing at the WAC. They were declared dead and buried but now it is the WAC and ASUN needing help to get a playoff spot.

The crap show that is the WAC/ASUN takes another hit as Lamar bolts after only one season. This comes on the heels of UIW bolting after zero seasons.
CUSA is far from perfect, but it's got to be better than what we have now.

Those wouldn’t have occurred if we and shsu hadn’t left.

Those wouldn’t have occurred if we and shsu hadn’t left. My big concern in joining the ASUN was that someone would get called up to FBS and we'd be stuck back in a conference without enough members for an autobid. Glad we were the one who got promoted.

The announcement of Kennesaw State moving up leaves the ASUN with just four football members: UNA, UCA, EKU, and Austin Peay. They have eleven full members.
The WAC is at 11/5 with UTRGV planning to start a program by 2025.
I guess they will have to continue their alliance for a few more years. Glad that isn't our problem anymore.
