So here's a question for you guys:
The mock brackets I've seen us in have us as a 15 seed. Against the Dukes, Auburns, and Kansas-s of the world.
I hate losing but I'm not naive enough to think we have a super good chance of not getting whupped (although handing Coach K his last career L would be cool).
So the question is would you guys almost rather us go to the NIT and have a better shot at making noise or go to the Dance and most likely get whupped by 20+.
I mean obviously money-wise I'm sure the Dance is more beneficial but I'm asking what you guys would rather see as fans. It's honestly a toss-up for me. But I'm also in NYC and would be in town if we hit a hot streak and make it to MSG. So I'm biased.

If we go to the NCAA and win it all our tournament credits stay with the ASUN.
I was thinking the same thing about the NIT. If we draw a couple bubble P5s pissed they are in the NIT we have a good chance of winning. And a trip to MSG is pretty cool. Better than getting beat by 30 in the first round.

If we get Duke, I take the NCAA. Not sure who would be 2s but after Duke who cares who or where we play.

Everyone’s attention is there regardless of whether you win or lose. Greater chance to advance is in the NIT but will anyone really care. On the other hand, there is a Cinderella every year in the NCAA- why not us?

NIT if the first game is at home and not on a night that the NCAA tournament is going on.
NCAA if we play in a "play-in" game. Would be nice to play UTC in the "First 4" (which is now 8).
Thing about the NCAA is they will keep talking about how JSU only got in because Bellarmine wasn't eligible. And they would be right.

Let’s not forget we won the regular season championship which is why we have this 2nd chance after we lost

Last time we went to NCAA it paid us $750K(rumor) AFTER the OVC got their cut. Cost us nothing, NCAA pays all travel expenses. What do you think the Trustees want? Both routes have good & bad. I'm just glad we're still playing. Trust RAY.

I'm just glad we're still playing. Trust RAY. Are you Ray's agent? I've said it before, this was last years team plus Gibbs. This team wouldn't have won the OVC. Even if JSU split with Murray State, JSU loses too many games they should have won. Best win of the year was against Liberty and they ended up 22-11. With that said, I don't have a problem with Ray being here a long time.

Thing about the NCAA is they will keep talking about how JSU only got in because Bellarmine wasn't eligible. And they would be right. No way on God's green earth does UTC wind up in the First 4. (Or the First 8.) They'll likely be a 12 seed. As for JSUSoutherner's big question... I've asked myself this same thing. Is it better to be a sacrificial lamb in the NCAA tourney or a dangerous team in the NIT? And while I would welcome the chance to make an impact deep into the NIT, I don't think that's the correct answer. The NCAA offers bigger money, far more exposure, and 5-6 years down the line, all people will really remember is that you made the Dance. The circumstances surrounding that bid will be lost to time. And there is that ever-present chance the team could hit a hot streak after their ASUN semifinal disappointment and stun the world with a Sweet 16 appearance. (Or better, but let's not get too far ahead of ourselves.) As for the money... yes, the ASUN gets its share, and we'll be heading out soon, but we'll still be members for another year. We'll get our slice of the pie.

If UTC is that good (I don't know) then they definately won't play each other.

Nobody cares about the NIT but the players and their moms.
