The rules are the rules and JSU gets to go to the NCAA tournament.
My problem is JSU social media bragging about going.
So some of you ask, "what are they supposed to do"? Shut your keyboard down and go play ball and let your on court performance speak for itself.

We have clearly the best conference record and clearly won the conference save one flop at the wrong time. We truthfully are the best team in the Asun this year. Yet some think we should slink away. They have as much to be proud of as does Bellarmine. They deserve to represent the Asun as much as Bellarmine does. The rules say the tourney winner gets the slot. But they can’t fill it. Who should other than the best team in the Asun this year?

Bellarmine may have a complain but Jacksonville has none. JU is not a champion of anything.

So you're saying Belmont should have went Dancing in 2017. I understand all this clearly as does most. WhT I don’t understand is Jax St fans who complain all the way through a 22 win season and then complain because we get to go to the NCAA tournament. Which is the real problem.
Yes sir, you nailed it Slim.

I was under the impression that Bellarmine would get our NIT AQ?

I was under the impression that Bellarmine would get our NIT AQ? There was a rumor going around to that effect, but I'm not sure where it started. (Unless it was purely a misunderstanding after a Bellarmine official said they were looking into the possibility of an NIT bid.) The NIT is owned by the NCAA and subject to the same eligibility requirements, so if you're ineligible for The Dance, you're ineligible for the NIT. It really sucks for Bellarmine. But there's always the CBI and The Basketball Classic. (meh...)

No way on God's green earth does UTC wind up in the First 4. (Or the First 8.)
They'll likely be a 12 seed.As for JSUSoutherner 's big question... I've asked myself this same thing. Is it better to be a sacrificial lamb in the NCAA tourney or a dangerous team in the NIT? And while I would welcome the chance to make an impact deep into the NIT, I don't think that's the correct answer. The NCAA offers bigger money, far more exposure, and 5-6 years down the line, all people will really remember is that you made the Dance. The circumstances surrounding that bid will be lost to time. And there is that ever-present chance the team could hit a hot streak after their ASUN semifinal disappointment and stun the world with a Sweet 16 appearance. (Or better, but let's not get too far ahead of ourselves.) As for the money... yes, the ASUN gets its share, and we'll be heading out soon, but we'll still be members for another year. We'll get our slice of the pie. I'm not going to look it up, but I believe the 2nd games of the First 4 doubleheaders are two #11 seeds playing each other. If UTC is that good (I don't know) then they definately won't play each other. JD Royce @swampyjoe11_SRQ· 1h Replying to @mattsarz and @506sports We can figure out "First Four" games It's been the 16s going at 6:40p ET, with the 11s (or 12s) at 915p. Please put those games on TBS. Save the TruTV games for first weekend.

I was thinking more like the old style "play in" games... where two bubble teams play each other and the winner gets to be a high seed's sacrificial lamb. That's why I was like, "No way," with UTC. Honestly, from what I've seen, I'm not a fan of the new format. It gives lower tier teams a chance to get an NCAA victory (which is good) but at the expense of playing another low-tier team rather than a power team (which kinda sucks). I'd much rather play in a game that had a zillion eyeballs watching rather than one where a lot of folks will just check the score to see who advances. I dunno. Maybe I don't give March Madness viewers enough credit...

Shut your keyboard down and go play ball and let your on court performance speak for itself. What? Do you want them to say nothing? Oh, then that’s poor marketing. Of course they’re going to advertise on social media to hype up Gamecock Nation and help in recruiting. It’s been so long (and maybe never?) since the school could say “You will compete for Championships and NCCA playoffs in every sport.” *basically*. *Go play ball* that’s exactly what they’re going to do. And they’re using social media to tell our fans and recruits that we’re going. That’s such a piss poor argument Stevo (and I do agree with you on most things). We don’t make the tournament every year. We made it, advertise it, and lets go play.

JSU social media’s job is to promote the basketball program and its achievements. We had the best program in the conference over the course of the season and that’s why we made the NCAA. Nothing wrong with being proud of that.
