Most G5s play a non-conference schedule of one FCS opponent and two G5s each season. The fourth non-conference game is usually a guarantee game against a P5. I'm not worried about the P5 right now.
Who would you like to see as the FCS and G5 opponents. If you're like me, you'd be happy with several options, but I set up the poll to limit you to three choices. Choose ONE FCS team and TWO G5 teams. I'm just curious who the favorites are, to see if there are any surprises.

I just voted in my own poll. It's a tougher choice than I realized...

Any of them are fine, really. I said Kennesaw due to distance and they seem most likely of the group to join FBS eventually. Chattanooga is a good rival as well.
All three would bring a good number of visiting fans.
No real interest in Prime Time or the other HBCUs.
For FBS, troy is good for history and UAB for Clark. Just making UAB come here will be fun, though I bet they’d want a 2/1 deal.
USA would give us an in state game but with the distance I don’t see them moving the needle much.
GA State would be a quick trip and we can take the band. We have a game at Southern in 2026 so maybe that could be amended to a home/home deal.

I wonder if JSU will still play UTC as previously scheduled in Chattanooga in 2023? I can't understand how our AD signed up for this after UTC failed miserably to give us our return games after playing back to back years in Chattanooga. We did that to help UTC after ASU and GSU left the SoCon for Sun Belt. Gamecock 73

There must be some incriminating pictures of Seitz in a drawer in Chattanooga. Not sure how we keep playing there and they don’t come here.

I don't want Kennesaw unless we know we can mudhole them. God forbid we move up and they beat us again. We'll never hear the end of how we were their first FBS scalp.

I have little doubt that UTC compensated JSU for the scheduling.
But King Gamecock could ask that question in one of his interviews.

I went with troy state and UAB because in state games have greater potential for bigger crowds and rivalries. Went with UTC for an FCS game because I assume we would not travel to a FCS stadium and they owe us a bunch of home games.

We need to be playing South Alabama and UAB in regular rotation.

I went with troy, UAB, and Kennesaw. Same. Although I would be happy with some of the others.

We need to be playing South Alabama and UAB in regular rotation. I dont have much desire to play South. Long trip and little history between the schools. Of course if there are no other options close I would gladly play. Memphis and UNCC are option not terribly far away. Not much history just large cities to travel to.

I feel the same as Gem about USA. I mean, Mobile's only a 3-hour trip for me, with a Buc-E's along the way, so from that standpoint, I'm all in. But I don't have any connection with the Jaguars, and really don't place them any higher on a must-play scale than several out of state schools, some of which are closer to J'ville. As for Memphis and UNCC, those would be awesome games, home or away, but they're not the kind of opponents you'd make an attempt to schedule on an ongoing basis. A one-off home-and-away deal, or (in the near term, while we're getting our FBS legs) a 2-for-1 arrangement would be fine. But you wouldn't put either on your schedule for a long-term 6-10 year kind of deal. You save those deals for rivals.

I would not do a 2 for 1 with UNCC, maybe Memphis.
