Would be nice if a big (or almost big) name would come to Jville They will, eventually, especially if we have good crowds at our CUSA games. We've just got to wait for an opening, and maybe work on a 2-for-1 or 3-for-1 deal with someone. I vote UGA. (LOL ... kidding... but we might be able to get a Mississippi State or Vandy to come here.)

16 P5 teams traveled to G6 stadiums last year, including Florida, South Carolina, and Vanderbilt. Absolutely. Somewhere on this forum -- probably a few times -- I've shared the list of teams that have visited (or are scheduled to visit) the correspondence school in Pike County. It's an impressive list, especially when you consider where they're visiting. Jax State will certainly get some solid teams to visit someday. My point is only that it won't be immediate. I think the first P5 to visit troy state was in the 2nd year AFTER completing the transition to FBS. (Missouri in 2004.) A similar timeline for us would mean we wouldn't host a P5 until (at least) 2025, and that's only if we can find a school with an "away" opening and work out a suitable deal. Even established G5 programs don't host P5s every season.

That’s a nice home game. Should draw a good crowd.

That’s a nice home game. Should draw a good crowd. Let's see if JSU can get Tulsa to do the same thing. 2028 might work.

I was hoping they’d swap out the buy game for a home/home. Glad it isn’t a 2/1.
Tulsa might be willing to come here.

Didn't expect Georgia Southern to agree to two ass beatings for the price of one.

Like the Ga Southern home-and-home a lot.
Now, we need to do something about that game at Chatty in 2023...

I thought they had mellowed on the TO but I could be wrong.

When Ga Southern hired Clay Helton as coach, they basically said the days of the TO are done.
Helton told the Savannah News, "In looking at the job, I know that we are extremely strong on the offensive line as well as our runners, and really wanted to improve our passing game, especially down the field in the explosiveness of the passing game."
He brought in the co-OC from WKU, which led the FBS in passing offense and was 2nd in total offense and scoring offense.
Helton basically wants a standard "balanced offense" capable of beating you both ways: they'll run it on you if you let them, but if you stack the box, they'll make you pay downfield.
Every time the Eagles have moved toward a passing offense, they've had a horrible record. Helton's first year was no different: They finished 3-9, averaged only 20.25 ppg while allowing 31.42, and averaged an anemic 147.08 ypg with their shiny new passing game. They threw 12 INTs against only 5 passing TDs. It was pretty awful.
Helton's a good coach, though. If he can get them through this transition away from the TO, they should be a dangerous team by the time we play them.
Of course, if the Eagle Nation loses patience, don't be surprised to see Kennesaw's Bohannon on the Eagle sideline instead of Helton by then...

I don't think that even with good coaching that program is salvagable. At least not to the former glory of their FCS days. They don't seem to have the backing to really pull it back together and rebuild. They might be ok. But they aren't going to get to where App State is anytime soon.
