Should Falcons fans cheer for Michigan tonight? A win could give Jim Harbaugh the incentive he needs to go back to the NFL. He was 44-19-1 in four years with the 49ers and made the NFC championship game three times and one Super Bowl.
I’ve also seen speculation about Bill Bellichick. He will be 72 in April and Tom Brady isn’t coming with him. Which makes it the stupid kind of thing the Falcons would do.

We've hired multiple Super Bowl winning HC Bill Belichick! Nothing but blue skies ahead of us now!" 2) Media Reports: "The Tennessee Titans have wasted no time replacing Mike Vrabel by hiring National Championship winning coach Jim Harbaugh." 3) Bill Belichick: "I want to thank the Atlanta Falcons for this opportunity, but upon further reflection, I believe it is time for me to step away from coaching to focus on family and my retirement." 4) Falcons: "Hey everybody! We've decided to replace Coach Belichick's NFL experience with more NFL experience, bringing in former Titans coach Mike Vrabel, who once led the Titans to four consecutive winning seasons and three playoff appearances! We're excited to watch him lead the Falcons to RISE UP!"

Just saw they are considering Kirby Smart.

Just saw they are considering Kirby Smart. I'd be surprised if Kirby left Athens for the ATL, but if the rumors are true about what they're offering him, I'd kind of be surprised if he didn't. Still, though... if it were me, I'd stay at Georgia. It has nothing to do with my (strong) preference for the college game and the knowledge that great college coaches don't always make great NFL coaches (Exhibit A: Lil Nicky Saban). Rather, it has everything to do with the fact that the Bulldogs aren't cursed. And the Falcons most certainly are. They have to be. I mean... sheesh... you guys saw that Super Bowl too a few years ago, right? The 28-3 lead? I mean, sorry to bring up bad memories -- for me, it's right up there with JSU's games against T-Tech in 2010 and EKU in 2011 -- but if that game against the Patriots wasn't proof of malevolent spirits working against the Dirty Birds, I don't know what is. Beware, Kirby Smart. Beware.

Kirby has to have the desire to know if he can coach against the best. The NFL is where you have to go to find out.

The power's that be in Flowery Branch need to bring in sorcerers, shamans, voodoo doctors, wizards and warlocks of any and all types to cleanse the facility top to bottom. This. Must. Happen.

The Falcons have always made stupid decisions in hiring head coaches. For their first coach in 1966, Rankin Smith decided to hire Packers assistant Norb Hecker. He didn’t get a good recommendation from Vince Lombardi and Smith thought Lombardi was trying to hold on to him so he hired him anyway. Hecker went 4-26-1 before he was fired. The moral to the story is to listen to Vince Lombardi if he gives you advice on football.
Then they hired Norm Van Brocklin. He had previously coached the Vikings where he ran off Fran Tarkenton. So naturally they hired him and he went 37-49-3.
Then they hired Marion Campbell, who went 6-19 and got fired. Then he coached the Eagles and didn’t do much better, which somehow earned him another shot in Atlanta where he went 11-32.
A couple had moderate success and a couple were disasters.
Kirby would be the popular pick locally but if he sucks it could be hard to fire him. I’d open the bank vault for Harbaugh. He has won in the NFL before.

Kirby Smart is set at Georgia for the next 30 years. He won’t go to the NFL.

I’d open the bank vault for Harbaugh. He has won in the NFL before. I can't stand Harbaugh, but I have to admit, you're absolutely right. He should occupy slots 1-10 on the Falcon's Top Ten wish list of candidates: 1. Jim Harbaugh 2. Jim Harbaugh, but we'll say please this time. 3. OK, pretty please. 4. C'mon, Jim... would you do it for three times what Michigan is paying you? 5. How about four times? ... 10. Fine, Jim. $50M per year, plus an array of telephoto cameras and satellite uplinks, whatever you need those for. We'll throw in your own special table at Kevin Rathbun's, and of course, the souls of each of Arthur Blank's great-grandchildren.

The Falcons are set to hire Raheem Morris. He was the interim coach after they fired Dan Quinn and went 4-7. Previously, he went 17-31 with the Bucs.
He should fit right in.

Amazing how these guys get to return to elite jobs after showing they are not ready. Josh McDaniesl is a=nother great example. Only 30 something of the best football jobs on earth and you hire a proven loser? Maybe he will be better this round.

Some things to consider: When Morris was named interim with the Falcons nothing about the team was of his choosing. Assistant coaches, players, nothing. He just played out the season.
He was the Tampa coach from '09 to 2011, (13 years ago) pretty much in the same situation. (taking over mid stream after a coaching change and like the Falcons the Bucs had issues) He had a good year in 2010, not so good in 2011. I have to think he has learned a lot in those 13 years and this time he will have what he wants (assuming Fontenot and Blank listen to him) in regard to assistants and input about player acquisition. He has a lot more to work with regarding player personnel now compared to what was here in 2020.
I'm not saying he will definitely take us to a Super Bowl victory but it's not the same as last time and I don't expect the same result.
