Possibly taking Liberty's spot since they have to clear a lot of games. Wouldn't mind taking another Liberty game (@coastal). Good point. They have a lot of inventory to unload the next few years. Our only other game scheduled for 2023 is at Chattanooga. That may or may not happen. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Let's face it, since stadium work will still keep crowd size down in 2023, JSU might as well not waste any real good home games. New Mexico State also has to dump some games. How about JSU take the at Auburn game on 11/18/2023? JSU could play at SC on 11/4, then their bye, then at Auburn on 11/18. NMSU's home and home series with Louisiana looks good. At Louisiana in 2023 and home in 2024. ------------------------------------------------- fbschedules.com/ncaa/new-mexico-state/Guessing NMSU will want to keep: 1. at New Mexico (play every year) 2. UMass H (back end of H/H) 3. at Hawaii (gives them a 13th game) 4. Air Force H 5. at Northwestern (money game) NMSU only has to dump an away game at San Diego State. ------------------------------------------------- So JSU's non-conference for 2023 could be: 1. 09/02/23 Home against a FCS. (Samford looks available) **CHANGED BELOW** 2. 10/14/23 @ Louisiana 3. 11/04/23 @ SC 4. 11/18/23 @ Auburn

Thinking some more about Liberty. IF, if, if, Liberty gave JSU the game with South Carolina, that is a really nice gift. Almost too good to be true. Maybe JSU has to take a negative along with the positive. Looking at it from Liberty's view point, what 4 non-conference games do I want to keep? (or have to keep) fbschedules.com/ncaa/liberty/South Carolina would seem like one of them. But if they are not, I will guess they would want 3 home and 1 away since there is not a money game. 1. @ Buffalo (back end of a H/H, played at Liberty in 2019) 2. Old Dominion (back end of a H/H and in Virginia) 3. Bowling Green (H/H) 4. Eastern Michigan (H/H) That leaves what to do with UConn, UMass and at Coastal Carolina. Since UConn, UMass, NMSU and Liberty should have "out clauses" in their contracts if they leave for a conference, that leaves the H/H with coastal Carolina as the only issue. So would Greg Seitz take the H/H with Coastal as a condition to get the South Carolina game? I sure hope so. By taking on the Coastal Carolina contract, it gives you a renovated stadium opening game in 2024 with Coastal Carolina. In 2022 JSU has 4 home games and a game in Montgomery. In a hypothetical 2023 schedule, JSU would have 4 home games and a game in Auburn. So you 2 guys who have stuck with me, would you like this as a 2023 schedule: 09/02 @ NMSU 09/09 @ Coastal Carolina 09/16 MTSU 09/23 @ FIU 09/30 LA Tech 10/07 @ WKU 10/14 @ Louisiana 10/21 UTEP 10/28 @ Liberty 11/04 @ South Carolina 11/11 BYE Week 11/18 @ Auburn 11/25 SHSU Not beautiful, but would get you through the renovation and help to pay some bills. Also gives you home games in 2024 with Coastal Carolina and Louisiana.

I know people don't like to talk about Saban, but he nailed it with NIL and the transfer portal. They both suck and are screwing up college football. On the flipped side, since the transfer portal is a thing, and NIL is a thing, I have zero problems with schools not renewing scholarships. Players want to have the perks of being a professional, they should have all of them - including being waived. Coaching salaries and tv are the ones who have taken their toll on college football. The players are just rightfully following the leaders. Whether a coach makes $1,000,000,000 or $1 is no different if student athletes are student athletes. The same can be said of TV contracts. A football player is committed to a school in exchange for a scholarship. Coaches are employees. Once they graduate they can be employees too… as things stand, amateur status should just be eliminated and players become employees. Make it 4 year employment contracts with going to class optional. At the end of 4 years they can leave school with or without a degree. That is where it is headed…

You can say that Coach Stallings is old and out of touch and I guess I am too. I don’t enjoy the game as much as I used to. www.yahoo.com/news/former-alabama-football-coach-gene-220353454.html

It would be a tough schedule but if we could pull of a couple of upsets, we would gain a ton of momenum going in to a bowl eligible year.

That all sounds fine to me. The problem I see is that I don’t believe we will see Auburn play us again. Why not? In the six seasons since playing us, they have played 5 FCS games. AL A&M, Mercer, Samford, and AL State twice. They have no FCS teams on their future schedules. They do have a game scheduled in 2025 against South Alabama. I give Auburn props for playing in state schools and now that they have added South Alabama, I am even more impressed. They pick their cupcakes closely though and they have long memories of close games against inferior opponents. I can remember App State, UAB, Utah State, and GA State all giving them close games and will never be seen again. Hell, App State was in Tuberville’s first game. Now that we are FBS and will have increased scholarships to give, I don’t think they want to mess with us again.

I see that we have a 2026 game at Ga Southern. Shouldn’t there be a return game announced?
