The tournament format is a little wacky. The two division winners are the top two seeds. Then the next six in order of RPI (not conference record).
The division winners and the top two of the others in RPI are in Pool B and the other four are in Pool B.
You have three rounds of pool play. The top three finishers in Pool A plus the Pool B champ advance to the single elimination semifinals.
We are currently ninth in the ASUN in RPI, so it appears we will be in Pool B and would likely need to go 3-0 to advance.
Congratulations to Case for leading the team to a sweep over 11-43 Bellarmine.

PLEASE explain to me how we backed into the conference tournament with a 19-11 conference record? Sadly we have some “fans” who can only be happy when our teams don’t succeed. When the teams do succeed, they work overtime to still find fault.

EXACTLY ..... that's why they are Southerners not athletes, seems these "fans" can do no wrong.
In athletics the last game is just as important as the first game.

What is the connection with the Southerners? Lost on this one. I'm right with you on that. I was a walk-on DE with a knee that wouldn't hold up. I have tons of friends who played and started. I also marched Southerners. I went to JSU. My wife is a JSU grad. Both of my brothers went to JSU. One brother is a prof at JSU. My brother-in-law graduated from JSU. My cousin graduated from JSU. My aunt graduated from JSU. I have attended so many games since the first one in 1981 or 82 that I couldn't even count. I went to every stadium sans one in the OVC, and every stadium in the GSC. I went to our games at MSU. I marched the hell day when we had homecoming parade in the morning followed by a halftime in the afternoon and a band contest in Birmingham that night. I put Ken in contact with the KMEA finals organizers so we were able to play an exhibition at Bryan Station after the UK game, which was an extremely successful recruiting trip (Kentucky HS Marching bands are VERY good). I have a vested interest in the success of JSU, its programs, and athletics. I don't criticize the athletes or school, but I reserve the right to express my opinion of the coaches when they have 3 consecutive losing seasons. If our football team went 5-6 or 5-7 every year after years of 6-5, the coach would be long gone... and if the band director changed the culture of the program for the worse, changed the book to poor arrangements with "Fresno State Bulldog Band" printed across the top, and the participation went from 350 to 180, the director would be fired. There is a history to support that. The Marching Southerners and support staff represent about 8-10% of the student body at the University, a startling number when you think about it. They definitely aren't someone you want to target.

JSUSoutherner is the one who said we "backed into the tournament."

JSUSoutherner is the one who said we "backed into the tournament." So one person speaks for all members of the Southerners. This is assuming JSUSoutherner was a Southerner. Quite a stretch

Quite a stretch I was a Southerner. Still irrelevant to this conversation. He's just upset that I'm not putting a team that got 14 of their 19 conference wins against 3 of the worst teams in D1 on a pedestal. We got the last seed in the tournament by virtue of the three bottom teams in the ASUN being HORRENDOUS. Our win loss this year against teams in the BOTTOM 30 of D1 (based on NCAA RPI): 14-1 W-L vs Everyone Else:12-26 I called out Grass for cupcake munching his way to an inflated record. For years. And now we're just supposed to overlook the baseball team doing the same? Our record is inflated and we're still below .500 We will be the CUSA doormat unless something changes and it happens quick.

UPSET??? Not at all. I'm happy our team made the tournament. I'll give the players & Case the credit they deserve. If Case was scheduling cupcakes we would have a much much easier out of conference schedule.
Regardless of who we beat in conference or if we got in the tournament the last day, we're still there and should be happy. Sorry you choose otherwise.

I'm pleased we are in the tournament and won our first game. That's great! I am displeased that we are a .500 team.
Both can be true at the same time.
We will find out today if we have progressed. We were 0-6 vs EKU in the regular season. If we make it out of pool play, we will find out even more about where we are as a program.
Seems like some are content to be an average team who barely makes the conference tournament. I remember going to regionals and winning games. I want that for our players and program.
Whup EKU.

I AM POSITIVE Jim Case is not pleased with the overall record. He is elated we're in the tournament though. If you think otherwise you don't know Case. I also know this is the year after covid & many players were given a 6th year. We had a record number of kids from all over the Southeast attend the invited prospect camp. Had to turn many away, even after scheduling another day if memory serves me correct. We'll see what 2023 brings.
BTW --- I don't know for certain but I would bet there is a record number of kids wanting to attend JSU BASEBALL camps. Rich Rod will have the football team working for sure. Basketball workouts start June 1.
CUSA will have new challenges for the WHOLE Athletic Department. I believe we have the people up to the task. We will be far from "the doormat" status. SORRY JSUSoutherner but I choose not to be a pessimist.

When the teams do succeed, they work overtime to still find fault. I assume you are talking about yourself being the one who is happy when our team doesn't succeed. Everyone else seems to be upset when we have a losing record and happy when we are winning. The posts with inflammatory and baiting titles needs to stop. We have been patient up until this point, but putting fans in quotes to insinuate that people with more connection, history, and love for the University than you have are somehow fake fans ends now.

Jax St just lost to Eastern Kentucky for the 7th time this season. Have some damn expectations people. This defending Case is embarrassing.
