The old JSU billboard in Cobb County that was behind the tree on Cobb Parkway, only visible at the last second, was removed a couple of years ago. But lets be honest, billboards won't draw students or recruits. This money is better spent participating in high school college fairs and direct social media advertisement targeting high schoolers of all grades.

Billboards are excellent for raising awareness. That's about it. And given that JSU was all over everywhere last season for beating FSU, awareness is not our issue. We need to make students in grades 7-12 aware of what Jax State can offer them. "Hey, I've heard of them!" is not a selling point. "Hey, they have a great business/nursing/education/music school!" is much more effective. (Apologies to any departments I left out. Those are the first four that popped in my head.) Along those same lines, we need to refine the nomenclature of "departments" to "schools" across the board. That is, instead of the "Dr. David L. Walters Department of Music", it needs to be the "Dr. David L. Walters School of Music." Doesn't that sound better? More prestigious? Less like a wing of a building down the hall and through the double doors on the left, and more like a place where serious students go to get a serious education? Yeah, we need to do that. Sure it's pointless and pretentious. But then, so is college.

My comment about needing more billboards was tongue in cheek, sarcasm if you will. We know how well those President Beehler billboards helped with raising our visibility. Again, more sarcasm...

Most high school kids don’t select a school based on its quality in a certain field. Some do most don’t even have an inkling what they want to pursue.

I think our location is a great selling point. Far enough away from prying eyes, close enough to still take your laundry home to Mom.

If your a parent or a kid not wanting to overwhelmed by people traffic and businesses Jacksonville is fantastic, to be able to move around campus and town without a death defying 2hr drive. A consolidated campus not inundated with liquor stores bars and gas stations is an oddity anymore. It has a real community feel to it.
