Stadium Project Changes: The two dorms removed from stadium project. Revised project includes dining hall and football facilities. Other Actions: 1. JSU and developer to build apartments housing near baseball stadium. 2.JSU to build the two dorms near Logan and Patterson Hall. 3. Purchase First Baptist Church campus for not more than $ 6 millon. TO be used by the Southerners. 4. Purchased Magnolia Place for new resident's home. 5. President's Home tob e converted to Welcome Center and Alumni House. 6. Well or lease Forney Hall with restrictions on use. 7. ROC to be constructed in site of the former alumni house...issue is cost has gone from $35m to $70m.
It sure would be nice for JSU to updated plans and start raising money.

Not more than 6 million really means 6 million doesn’t it? It seems stupid to me to pay 6 mil for a small parcel of land with a building your likely to tear down.

OK, reading the Gadsden Times article (paywalled, but you get a small allotment of "free" stories) it sounds like the FBC building may not be torn down (at least, not any time soon) but may actually be incorporated into the ROC structure. That is, it could conceivably provide some classroom/rehearsal/recital space without having to build that part of the building from scratch. Then the "ROC" would be a new "wing" added onto this. Regarding No. 7... the Times article says the ROC was *originally* slated to go on the old Alumni House site, suggesting that it will now (apparently) be built elsewhere (i.e., on the FBC property). I can see the justification for this, and if they do it right, it can still be spectacular, but you're going to lose that "marquee building" feeling you would've gotten had it remained on Hwy 21. Some ticky corrections to Gamecock73's post, for clarification: No. 4 should read "president's home" and No. 6 should read "Sell or lease Forney Hall". Anyway... regardless what happens, I'm 100% on board with everybody else. SHOW ME THE PLANS. I'm especially interested in the new stadium design. (To be fair, I was never a big fan of the look of the original plans. Outside looked OK, but inside just didn't grab me.)

Whup’s clarifications are more in line with what I have been told regarding these projects.

Directly across the street from Stephenson and the new rec center on 21. They call it "Magnolia Place" in the story, but I always knew it as "The Magnolias". It's a huge house, but it's barely visible from the road, because it's obscured by, of all things, magnolias.
