The truth is Jax St had played 2 bad FCS teams ( neither will come close to making the playoffs) and a non scholarship team in Davidson. Tulsa is a decent Group of 5 team and the game was not remotely competitive. Long, long way to go and I know it is Rich Rod’s first year.
I just question whether the resources are available to do this the right way.
Troy and UAB have deeper pockets. Guess time will tell.

We're already in a better position than 99% of FCS teams now. FCS is about to become completely irrelevant with this 12 team playoff.

Let's not overreact.
Sometimes it's just not your day. We got popped in the mouth by a team that wasn't overlooking us. It will happen again, and we will be on the other side of it at some point too.

I'm surprised by how badly we lost. I'm not happy about it. But I'm more interested to see how Rich Rod and the team respond. After this year, no one will care if we won or lost. But if we can take this opportunity and use it to get better so that next time we can compete and win when it matters, that's what counts.

I didn’t expect Jax St to win because Tulsa is a fine team that won their bowl last year. But I didn’t expect being blown out either. We’ve still a better than average chance of winning 9 or more games this year. Better days are ahead, especially after P2 teams leave the NCAA.

When this year started the consensus was we wouldn’t likely break 500. Now the world may end since we got beat senseless.
Some of y’all are schizophrenic.
We knew we wouldn’t be great and were a mediocre fcs team when the year started. Y’all all are just afraid of what this means for the future. It means we are near where we started. With lots of room to improve. Time will tell if that happens in the meantime we need to learn to take pleasure in where we are now. Enjoy the season.

I thought we would do better in this game... yeah, Tulsa won a bowl game last year, but they went 7-6 and lost to UC-Davis last year, so they're not some great team we should get blown out by. I do wonder sometimes how we are going to compete financially with UAB, Troy, and South Alabama. UAB has a $35 million athletic budget, USA has a $32 million budget, Troy has a $31 million budget. JSU is half of that.... we have a $16 million budget. I'm sure going to CUSA will boost us some, but there's no way it's going to bump us up $15 million to match out in-state peers.

One of the first and easiest steps Gamecock Football fans can take is to join Coach Rich Rods 900 Club. Your $900 annual contribution goes directly to boosting our Football budget. Many of us have, but more are needed. Every little bit helps. We can chose to whine about the problem, or give toward the solution. Go Gamecocks!!!!

That is what one would expect from taking on Bama or Georgia. Not Tulsa. Even this first year.

I apologize if you thought I meant you literally spoke those words. The whole thread is literally "I didn't expect to get blown out, but we'll be fine" Not even figuratively is anyone close to being on edge or getting carried away. There's some disappointment, but that usually happens when you give up 40 points and close to 400 yards in one half.

I expected us to be 2-2 at this point.
3-1 is better, even if Tulsa was a train wreck.
Tulsa had great qb play and we couldn’t cover their receivers.
We won’t see an offense like that again this season and we have a full recruiting cycle plus the transfer portal before we will run into that level of talent again.
Keep the faith.
Go Gamecocks!
