I saw something in the star today.

There was, but someone with better connections is going to have to decipher that Star article. It was very poorly written, from the standpoint of communicating what was discussed and decided upon.
It LOOKS like the BoT approved a (new) revised plan which puts dorms back into the stadium project, a plan made possible by some creative reallocation of funds. And it LOOKS like the new dorm project adds 200 more beds than the original plan and moves the dining space to a different, apparently less desirable location.
Oh, and something about needing to find parking for students in that dorm.
No photos or renderings. No summary of the new plan. Just a bunch of quotes from trustees and JSU officials reacting to the wonderful decision they just made.
Do better, Star. Sheesh.
(BTW, the BoT apparently also formally approved the transformation of the old Jacksonville FBC campus into the ROC. Again, no details, but they're all very excited about this transformational project. Or something.)

Sweet Lord. I wasn't at the meeting, so I don't know who's responsible for all the conflicting reports. So far, I have to send major kudos to the Chanticleer for the best reporting on this BoT meeting. Still not perfect, but hey, it's better than The Star. The TV report was... not terrible helpful. So here's what I think I know. Which is probably wrong, and it's not my fault. The new dorm will not, in fact, be part of the stadium, but will be in the North Village, where they SAID it was going to move way back in July or whenever. NOTHING CHANGED, ANNISTON STAR!!!! Gah... But I digress... Anyway, the "North Village" (which is a cool, trendy collegiate sounding name, btw) is the cluster of dorms comprising Sparkman, Crow, Dixon, Logan, and Patterson. The new dorm is going right smack in the middle, on top of a parking lot which gets surprisingly little use. (Which is funny to me, considering how many people gripe about parking.) Here's a couple of renderings from the architect and a map I threw together showing approximately where this will be and how it's oriented: Here's the only rendering I can find of the new ROC, which is an expansion of the old Jacksonville First Baptist Church campus. This is a shitty rendering and will only serve to confuse people, since it fails to provide any context to how this connects to the FBC buildings (or that it's connected at all). It also makes the ROC look pitifully small compared to previous renderings (also shown below). Now, I think MOST of us are aware how this fits in with the FBC property, but most people aren't as smart and informed as us here at We Are Jax State, so they're getting their knickers in a twist thinking that we've gone from a massive state-of-the-art facility to a tiny version of the Globe Theater tucked away next to a church. I'm serious. That's what they really think. I'm tired of correcting them. And the description that the stage can hold a 120-member band doesn't help matters, since folks were expecting "Southerners rehearsal space" and that's only like 1/4 of the band. Again, it's miscommunication and confusion. The STAGE isn't where Southerners would rehearse. The STAGE is where the concert bands would perform. (There's a difference.) It'd help if the University and the media outlets covering it would make this clear. Gah. First, the new ROC rendering: And for comparison, the old renderings before the plans were changed, and the building was moved and merged with the FBC campus: It's basically the same, but just the angle and style of the new rendering (and the low quality) make it seem smaller. I wasn't worried... just disappointed that was the only rendering we got. But people really are getting apoplectic over this, since not everyone follows us here where we know stuff. Moving on... Here's the part we all came here to see. The Stadium Upgrades!!! Wooooooo!!! Except... we didn't get any shots of the stadium upgrades. We just got a very limited couple of renderings showing the new Football Operations Facility (aka Fieldhouse), with no context to how it fits into the new north stands, and no renderings at all of the stands themselves: With the dorms removed, it's a much more modest looking building. And it looks like they've cut back on the end zone deck seating. Here are the original renderings, for comparison: Questions thus far left unanswered: - What will the North Stands look like?
- What will the stadium capacity be?
- Where will the new dining facility go? No one seems to have answered that question. They just reacted to it. That doesn't help.
- When will journalism make a comeback? *sigh
- When will JSU finally understand the concept of communication and that dirty little M word "marketing"? *double sigh
We need to do better. </rant>

The field house is underwhelming. Looks like only a few club type seats - maybe outdoor seating for suites. I don't know what that is on the first floor. Maybe some sort of patio? Without the additional end zone seating at the field house, maybe that means the north side stands will get larger. Should be able to happen now that the dorm is not taking up the space. But who knows?

Hate none of these buildings and improvements will be easily visible from Pelham Rd. or 204

The new dining hall will be a renovation of jack hopper hall. It appears the endzone field house is very similar to what's there with a few Tweaks, why not renovate the current building. Moving the dorms is fine and parking is a nightmare at JSU now but it has more to do with the genius that orchestrated the whole moronic parking situation. It seems the old home side renovation is the question mark and if done right will save this whole situation and could actually be better than the previous plan. I hate endzone seating anyway so why wasn't money on something no one wants. I'd like to see a cantilevered two level seating with premium seating in the middle. Hopefully with better chairs than the upright seats that feel as though they lean forward like the crappy ones they have on the new home side. Back breakers assured back pain to sit there.
But that's just me.

I heard from a reliable source that there will be no new suites on the north sideline due to cost. I guess we had a season's worth of 1pm games in order to get new aluminum benches for the north sideline?!?!? The way things seem to be going, they will probably just reinstall what they removed 😬🤦🏻♂️

I don't really care about new suites. But new and improved seating and amenities on that side is an upgrade. I'm sure something will replace the old pressbox. Perhaps not what we wanted but something new will be on that side. If you've got complaints blame it on the ever rising cost of everything. Election day is real soon.
