Can’t see the twitter link. This may be the story: KyKy Tandy, Xavier transfer, chooses ASUN's Jacksonville State By Dave Clark, Cincinnati Enquirer, 12 hours ago img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=3b7Fch_0lfg3IBl00Guard KyKy Tandy tweeted Monday night that he'll play for the Jacksonville State University Gamecocks in Jacksonville, Alabama, after playing the past four seasons for the Xavier Musketeers. Tandy was one of several XU players to enter the transfer portal after the Muskies' season ended with an NCAA tournament Sweet 16 appearance. Junior guard Colby Jones declared last week for the 2023 NBA draft. Tandy, from Hopkinsville, Kentucky, averaged 2.2 points per game in 22 games this past season, including six starts. After his first season at Xavier, Tandy was named to the Big East Conference All-Freshman team. Tandy entered the transfer portal after his sophomore season, but changed his mind and returned to the Muskies. Tandy's third season at XU was cut short after just five games because of a season-ending stress fracture in his leg. Jacksonville State finished last season 13-18, and 6-12 in the ASUN Conference. Kennesaw State, which earned the ASUN's automatic bid to the NCAA tourney, had a double-digit lead against XU in the second half of their first-round game in the Big Dance before the Muskies rallied to advance. From CUSA Forum Whup Em All says Jacksonville State gets Juco 3rd team All-American Caleb Johnson 6-5, 17ppg, 56fg%, 46 threes, 100 assts, 37blks. 33 stls for Vincennes University who was a top 5 Juco team (two other team members also DI signees). Great pickup. Biggest recruit of the Spring for the Gamecocks.

We need some size in the post. Our guards are looking competitive.

A few question marks with this roster. Lots of solid players, but no obvious "stars" on the team other than maybe Perdue. It'll be interesting to see what Ray can do with them. If freshmen such as Piedmont's Odam successfully make the transition to D-I, and if Ray can find a diamond or two from our JUCO and transfer signees, it could be a great year. If not, it might be a long season. CUSA is a much tougher hoops league than the ASUN and OVC.
2023-2024 Gamecock Roster
Caleb Johnson (F, 6-7, 200, Jr - JUCO) - 16.6 ppg, solid defender.
Quincy Clark (G, 6-2, 180, Jr transfer from Lipscomb) - Averaged 15.1 minutes off the bench for the Bisons. Solid all around player with a penchant for defense.
Juwan Perdue (F, 6-6, 200, Sr) - Starter, leading rebounder, third-leading scorer, excellent defender. Will be counted on to set the tone as a team leader.
Travis Roberts (G, 6-6, 205, So) - Appeared in all 31 games in 22-23 with 9 starts as a true freshman. Solid all around player.
Marcellus Brigham Jr. (G, 6-7, 210, Jr) - 15 starts last season. 5.2 ppg, 0.8 apg, 4.2 rpg, 0.45 spg.
Ivan Reynolds (G, 6-5, 200, Jr transfer from Cal-Bakersfield) - defensive specialist.
Brad Lewis (G, 6-4, 175, RS So) - transferred in 2022 from Central State where he started 15 games. 7 rpg, 6.7 ppg, solid defender.
Alex Odam (G, 6-3, 175, Fr) - Shooting guard with over 3,000 career points in h.s. at Piedmont.
Andres Burney (F, 6-9, 210, Jr - JUCO) - Reliable scorer (17.4 ppg), defender (26 blocks, 38 steals), and rebounder (9.7 rpg) as a starter in JUCO in Florida.
KyKy Tandy (G, 6-2, 190, Grad transfer from Xavier) - Perhaps our most intriguing signing. A "boom or bust" signee who some feel was underutilized at Xavier. Excellent shooter. Was told by coaches to improve his D, and responded with multiple games of high energy, aggressive play, but it earned him no additional minutes. Was a scoring machine in high school, and several analysts feel he still has that potential; Xavier was just a bad fit.
Mason Nicholson (C, 6-10, 280, Jr) - Hand injury cut his season short after only 8 games in 2022-23. Could be an important presence inside.
Gora Niang (F, 6-7, 190, Fr) - Here's a quote from Niang himself: "Offense is fun and easy, everybody can finish and all but for me, defense is the most important."
Matt Mayers (F, 6-8, 210, Sr transfer from Robert Morris) - A 5th year senior (thanks, Covid!) with tons of experience. He won't be our leading scorer or rebounder, but he's a capable all-around weapon.
Tyre Patterson (G, 6-2, 185, Fr) - a 6A all-stater from Athens HS.
Thomas Curlee (G, 6-3, 165, Fr) - high energy scorer and defender from down the road at Faith Christian
