We are a have not in everything else, so why not NIL also? Everything costs money and we have a lot of "fans" that don't want to contribute. We also have a bad problem of people comparing us to SEC teams. The difference in resources is huge and we don't have to be at that level to be competitive in our league. We do need to be on the same level as the top teams in our league and we still have a ways to go to get to that level.
All that being said, I am still impressed with everything that we have done to this point. When you remember the D2 days and when Paul Snow had wooden bleachers, to see where we are now is like a dream. I never thought that I would see us have wins against traditional teams like Ole Miss and Florida State or even have the chance to play those teams. I never thought we would move to FBS. Now that we have, it would be great if our "fans" would jump on board and put more resources into our school versus SEC schools that they have no connection to.
I only wish that NCAA rules had more teeth to them and this huge divide did not occur now between Power 5 and G5. Getting some rules in place for NIL and maybe even a reduction in scholarships would help to have a more level playing field.

I think some of our posters make way above the average Alabama income. We're not going to be in the running for million dollar quarterbacks.

Before anyone jumps in to "correct" me -- Yes, I *know* about Richard Scrushy and all the other corporate millions which helped troy state out when they made their transition. I ain't talking about that.
I'm talking about real folks.
Now that I've clarified that, troy state had a hard time, especially in the early going, squeezing more dollars out of their main alumni base, for exactly the same reasons as JSU. Their teachers and nurses and other non-gazillionaire alums had to be sold on the fact that their school is now an FBS program, on the same level as Bama and Auburn (but on an obviously lower tier).
If anyone expects JSU alumni's pocketbooks to spill open in our first year of FBS (especially while still in transition) you're going to be sorely disappointed. But it'll come. Have faith in your fellow Gamecocks.
There is absolutely no reason why we can't match troy state (at least). And if we can get our enrollment up, there's no reason why we can't eventually match most schools in CUSA.
Until then, just win, baby.

I also think we need to use the popularity of our famous singers and have big time concerts .

I’ve said this in another post… Oil money from Texas and Oklahoma, Nike money in Oregon, Silicone Valley money in California, erc, etc. JSU’s 75,000 or so graduates of which probably 60% are female teachers and another 10% are former Marching Southerners don’t have the desire nor the resources to financially support athletics.

Money is important but it doesnt mean you will be successful. Attending and making tickets and parking hard to get will create money at a low cost plus look great to recruits. Follow all of the athletes on social media will create funds and more than likely paid by others. JSU will more than likely never have a huge amount of donations but it doesnt mean we cant be successful. This isnt a new battle and we have one in the past.

We also don't have a Wiley Sanders or multi-million dollar company shelling out money to us. Even though he's dead now (I think?), I know his Wiley Sanders Truck Lines and KW Plastics still shell out a lot of dough to Troy. And now Kimber Firearms HQ has moved to Troy, I believe they starting to become a big supporter. Don't we have some companies or multi-millionaires we can convince to invest in us? Bear & Son Cutlery?

So WHO.is the person that should be coordinating our efforts for all of Athletics. I completely understand the 900 club and the renewed Gamecock club and buy multiple season tickets in multiple sports and will occasionally give small amounts to small sports, but where/who is my source for an extra $xxx dollars that I want to make a difference with, not add to the black hole? I know our NIL person, bit I feel as though that is just for football and I am not sure how that money is used and or who gets what out of it. I may be asking for more transparency than is out there, but that's me.

An example, tell us the Volleyball team needs 10 new vol!eyeballs and what it costs for me to buy one and I would most likely do that, but ask me to furnd a scholarship and I most likely won't. Maybe 10% of a scholarship.with 9 other donors etc. Do see the point? Small focused donations that will.make people feel as though they are making a difference.

I may be asking for more transparency than is out there, but that's me. Ed Lett was the Director of Athletic Development but just recently stepped down. The position is currently open and I'm sure they will have it filled soon. In the meantime, I'm sure anyone on the athletic department staff can point you in the right direction. Send them an email. jsugamecocksports.com/staff-directoryAs far as wanting to dedicate your gift toward a specific item like a number of volleyballs, I'm sure they can work that out. You may remember several years ago, there was a need for better nutrition supplements for the athletes and many of us made donations that went specifically for that need. We have donors that have done a lot for the university, both athletics and academics. Here is a sample of some recent ones. The first one you will notice is Greg Seitz himself. Small donors are very appreciated. From my own personal experience, I will tell you that if you give say $1000 to JSU, they will treat you like a king. You will get all kinds of attention and asked to donate more. If you give $1000 to Alabama or Auburn, you don't move the needle at all and you will never hear from them again. jsu.planmylegacy.org/meet-our-donors

Just the way I see it.
