Was the Oxford coach the only one you would have been happy to have been hired?

Missouri plays in the SEC. This is a great hire. And with all the resources the SEC schools have and not to do much , that scary . We could have hire Georgia former coach at least his team was rank . Very uninspiring hire . Y’all can be excited but his record at his last stop doesn’t give me hope . The proof is in the record . It excites you because he came from the mighty sec . It’s not like we stole him from a sec school . No he was fired . Strike two for Greg . We have already shown you that his “resources” were last in the league but you ignore that. Still confused why you continue ti blame Greg when you have said that Greg doesn’t make these decisions. I personally feel that we are lucky to have the quality of coaches that we have in all of our sports when you consider our own lack of resources. As far as being fired, you do realize that Rich Rod was fired twice at schools that have a lot of resources. Coaches fall into two categories, those that have been fired and those that will be fired.

If the resource are so bad they would have settle for the the results they were getting . Instead of going out and getting the Memphis coach that only been there for drum roll please one year and buying out his contract . I mean seems like they wouldn’t be willing to do that . And he did not even make the ncaa tournament during his time . This is a bad hire but time will tell the story . I will give two years then I will be posting I told y’all so . No matter what happens I won’t call for his firing until year two .

Was the Oxford coach the only one you would have been happy to have been hired? I posted a long post that cover my ideal candidate. I also mentioned a successful jr college coach . Wes name I mentioned because he played here and has had more success than the one we hire .

Wes name I mentioned because he played here and has had more success than the one we hire . The coach we hired has won 326 college games. Remind me again how many Wes has won. I'm sure Wes is a great guy and may even be a great coach, but his resume does not compare to our new coach. Hopefully, we have gotten out of this mentality of hiring people because they are hot sh*t in Calhoun County.

Maybe the Georgia coach didn’t want to come here. They’re other coaches from high school to jr college that would . That has had more success than this guy has . Time will tell if I’m wrong or right but I have been right a lot . This is an uninspiring hire . That doesn’t know a thing about Alabama high school baseball and has no connection whatsoever to Alabama jr college programs or high school. That’s going to be a problem . My guess is , our results will be the same has his results at his last stop . Where he was fired but cover the lockers with plastic wrap so we could not ruin items as we break out the champagne 🍾 because we got a fired former sec coach to come here . I think you over estimate the attractiveness of the job overall. It’s in Alabama with zero lottery and basically no NIL support. And any high school or junior college hire would have been ridiculous. Not sure you would have been happy with any hire.

No matter what happens I won’t call for his firing until year two . I think you really underestimate the challenges and limitations of the Mizzou baseball job. I am hopeful our new coach will be able to secure more resources but we are 14th in the SEC in every measurable category with regard to commitment to baseball. Bieser was promised a turf field so that we could compete better with the snowfall we get in late winter/early spring and they turfed the infield in 2018. But in 2023, that's still the extent of it: money has not been dedicated to turfing the outfield to this day so we have this weird turf infield/grass outfield. Bieser has the smallest support staff, the lowest paid assistants, and Mizzou was the only SEC program in 2023 that did not have a strength and conditioning coach dedicated solely to baseball. The travel budget is totally inadequate and the team has only flown on a charter flight a handful of times since the Covid season. Considering the fact we are a geographic outlier in the SEC and play in the East, there are a ton of weekends where our team is getting back into Columbia at 3 or 4 in the morning on a Monday after a road series at a place like Auburn for example. Bus trip to Atlanta to catch a flight to St. Louis, then a two hour bus trip to Columbia. You mentioned Georgia's coach Scott Stricklin in another post. I guarantee you that he doesn't face anywhere near those sort of challenges and UGA doesn't even have that high level of commitment to baseball in the SEC. On top of all of those challenges (which he mostly knew about when he took the job in 2016), Mizzou baseball got wrapped up in the rogue tutor scandal at our school and baseball had to deal with sanctions that impeded recruiting significantly and it was something that occurred long before Bieser was in CoMo. Then he finally is able to get a pitching coach that was a volunteer assistant during the previous regime and has the backing of people like Max Scherzer and Kyle Gibson and he tragically dies two weeks before the 2022 season starts so Bieser has to not only deal with the personal aspect of that situation but also has to find a pitching coach in early February. Long story short, there have been tons of unexpected challenges at a place that is already tough to win at. After our last home game of the season where we swept Georgia and Scott Stricklin by the way, I was talking with a long time usher at the stadium about Bieser's tenure and he said I think if we were still in the Big XII he'd be well respected and getting a contract extension and if we had moved to the Big Ten instead of the SEC he would have a trophy case full of championships. I feel like he would be a great coach in those leagues and he already proved he could win in a mid-major. Perhaps you are right and he will fail, but that is a lot less likely than him having success in my opinion.

I've never believed in reincarnation, but this guy is the mirror image of my ex-mother in law.
It's a shame Will Rogers never met you.

The new hire has two and a runners up in high school.

Agree. No high school coach should have been remotely considered for a D1 job. Like UAB football? That hire will not end well. Even if he was an ex NFL QB. Which makes it a little better than hiring any baseball coach from high school.
