The lack of transparency is the problem, and leaves everyone including US grasping at what might be. If a plan was laid out for the stadium completion 2024, followed by a covered practice field 2026, and future plans ... it would gain more momentum. I understand not wanting to know your hand, but showing renderings of you new house while you're current home is in disarray is irresponsible. Instead, we're left to guess what our priorities are and the funding necessary to complete them. Better understanding the funding requirements / strategy might also help (us/ alumni) take inventory on our own donation levels and what's required to achieve our goals. I really do think the priorities are changing often. We mostly speak about football, but there are many other sports with needs, but they usually cost less due to team size/space requirements. There are 85 football scholarships and 120ish players. The scholarships are almost equal to every other sport COMBINED. The cost of anything football is pretty much going to be able to fully fund priorities for multiple other sports. Another issue. CRR is rumored to have a clause about the practice facility in his contract. What if he leaves after we start construction? The cost of that facility is HUGE compared to the abilities of our donor base. There is only so much the alumni can do and $12 million is a lot when you look at historical dats. If I understand this do you not think the AD and other staff members understand it? Our AD has been around and probably has a good plan and is working it, but like you said a little info helps. I am sure he will get it to us when he is ready. Don't forget NIL is supposed to have some clarity soon.

First time I have posted in a while. Hope everyone has been well.
Regarding the stadium. I am currently getting ready to watch JSU compete on national TV in it's 8th FBS game. We are 5-2 and second in the conference. We are mentioned during several other teams broadcast and weekly on the Mcafee show. Morale around campus is as high as I have seen it in my 50 years of following this program. This is the buzz we had during the DivII runs. I have seen us in March Madness twice in basketball. I have seen us hire a coach that is a bigger name than I thought we would ever hire. All of this was done under this Administration and AD.
It is my opinion to trust them. They probably know better than we do about what we can afford and when. Also, if you think Rich Rod would allow his players on an unsafe surface, I do not know what to tell you. Our stadium is in the middle of construction. Of course it looks rough. If you think Oxford has a nicer stadium, you could always go sit in it to watch every JSU game.

I agree you got to trust the process. I'm new to the jax state family. My son and niece plan to spend the next 4 years at Jax State so that is why I'm asking so many questions. In reality the new dorm and cafeteria is the most important projects going on now because they have to be completed by 8/1 or a bunch of students might have rooms. I want the students to have the best facilites and experiences as financially possible. I went to college 88-91 and the students now have it so much better however it costs so much more.

Cost really has gone up. Housing is the biggest concern I have right now. There is so much more to do in Jacksonville than when I was there, kids are actually hanging around on weekends. I love the Fitness center as well. So much positive going on!!

College costs have skyrocketed everywhere, at all levels of higher ed, and this includes some places without half of the new projects Jax State is enjoying.
Not sure what this brings to the conversation... but I did want to at least clarify that JSU's tuition isn't higher *because* of this stuff. It's higher because of a broken federal tuition assistance program which essentially rewards colleges for raising tuition. It's politics, but it's not a blue vs red/Dem vs GOP thing. Neither party wants to fix it because doing so would instantly brand them as "the party that wants to take our education away."
Anyway. It's politics. It doesn't belong here. I've said what I needed to say.
Go Gamecocks.

Federal loans should be for a fixed amount, not based off of what a school sets tuition at. It can be indexed it to something, maybe CPI. Additional amounts would have to be private loans. This wouldnt totally solve the problem of rising costs, but should at least slow it down. This would encourage schools to keep costs lower and encourage students to attend less costly schools, like ours 💁🏻♂️.
