Did you all get the email about the new benefit concert? Will be at the Stone Center and tickets are $500 each. (It's a benefit folks). Randy Owen, Jamey Johnson, Riley Green, and Gordon Mote. The email mentions that it's the first concert for the Jamey Johnson Music Series, so it appears that Mr. Johnson is getting more involved with JSU. That's a good thing.

I would think the country music industry could/ should rally behind this or any other donations for ROC. Need to get Dolly Parton involved, she has the $$$

Everyone is on Facebook complaining and making fun of the ticket prices lol.
This is not for poor folks (me). This is for folks for whom dropping 1k on tickets is an afterthought. The purpose is to raise money.

Stone Center is very small, so ticket prices have to be high to generate any substantial money.

Fans of those performers will be coming from Atlanta and Nashville and all sorts of other places, and most of them won't be wearing Gamecock red.

Why not use the stadium or the Pete?

372 seats Why not use the stadium or the Pete? I can only assume they wanted to make this an exclusive event in order to reach people with deeper pockets. At the current prices, a sellout of Stone Center would only raise $186,000, but I'm willing to bet they'll be going for an "up-sale" at the concert itself. Probably some way to promote the ROC directly (video presentation, appeal for funds, etc.) which wouldn't work as well in a Coliseum filled with 5,000 screaming fans.

The email mentions corporate sponsorships and vip tickets as well. Pay enough, and I bet you can hang out with Riley and Randy.
