Do they limit the size or members in Hardcorps? Just comparing to Auburn I think they have 2 bands (orange / blue) approx 30 members each and split between mens / womens games

Do they limit the size or members in Hardcorps? Just comparing to Auburn I think they have 2 bands (orange / blue) approx 30 members each and split between mens / womens games HardCorps (unlike Southerners) has a very strict instrumentation. It's normally only about 40 members and one band plays both men's and women's games. Whereas Southerners can be as big as we want them to be, HardCorps is limited somewhat by NCAA rules. We have more flexibility at home, but on the road -- and especially at the NCAA tourney -- there are hard caps on the number of performing members. (It used to be only 29 members for the Dance. I'm not sure if that number has been adjusted in recent years, but it's still not a lot.) Because of this, before auditions, the director will decide exactly how many saxes, trumpets, bones, 20-Js, and rhythm section members will be taken. Students then audition for the available slots -- the instrumentation doesn't change based on the number and quality of those auditioning. So if 9 trumpet slots are available, and 20 outstanding trumpets try out, 11 outstanding trumpet players will walk away empty handed. It's brutal. But for those making it in, it's totally worth it.
