my son will be attending in 2024 and is unsure about a career choice.
Anyone have good behind the scenes of this program and career track they can share?

I don't know if your son likes forensics but we have one of the best forensics programs in the entire country! All of the teachers are super caring

Respiratory therapy like nursing is a high demand field.

I don't know anyone personally who's gone through the Respiratory Therapy program at JSU, but it's part of the College of Health Professions and Wellness, which includes both Nursing and Athletic Training/Sports Medicine, and both of those are on par with pretty much anyone in the country. I would be shocked if the standards for RT would be any less, especially now that the old hospital has been converted to the South Complex.
It'll be a solid degree in a high demand field.

Doesn't matter where you get your degree from in the medical field. UAB is hiring respiratory therapists in at $31/hr right now.
