I gave this a lot of thought on the drive home from New Orleans... just curious where everyone else stands.
I was in Florence for the 1992 National Championship game, as well as several runner-up finishes leading up to that.
I watched the 2015 FCS title game on TV. (Bison still make my hivey...)
And I was in the Superdome for the New Orleans Bowl.
So I asked myself... which game meant more? (I'll leave that open-ended ... whether it means more to YOU or means more to JSU. Discuss amongst yourselves.)
Honestly, as amazing as '92 was, and as big a deal as I felt '15 was at the time... I have to go with 2023 for me. And it's really not even close. This game was huge. The only way I could see anything being bigger is if, in coming years, we end up in the same position Liberty finds itself in, playing in whatever version of the NY6/CFP exists at that moment. But for me, this totally squashes any championships won at the lower levels.
So where do you stand?

Let me just say, I went to a party Saturday night and many people told me they watched the game, commenting on what an exciting game it was and how great our defense looked. I don't recall anyone outside of other JSU fans mentioning those other games to me. So my vote goes to the 2023 New Orleans Bowl.
Actually throughout the season people mentioned watching our mid-week games. So overall this move to FBS has greatly enhanced our national awareness.

At the risk of being a prisoner of the moment, it's the New Orleans Bowl win.
I was born in 1990, so I'll never be able to feel for the 92 champs the way other alums can.
We lost in Frisco, and I'd very much like to forget that.
But NOLA? We won. After years of investing millions in stadium renovations for all sports, begging for attention as an FCS team, waiting for a long-overdue FBS invite, and collecting a debt we still haven't paid off to change conferences twice in three years, winning the NOLA Bowl made it all worth it. It proved we belong at this level. And we're just getting started.

There's two perspectives to that question: 1) which meant more to us individually 2) which meant more to the university and our program
Without the previous two experiences, we would not be in CUSA or been playing in a bowl game last Saturday. But to that end, Saturday's well-played game and eventual victory did more to benefit our program than any other single game in our schools history.
I'll add, that the hiring of HCRR is the most important happening in our schools D1 history. This man has completely transformed our culture and the somewhat deserving "SOFT" identity we had winning the OVC all those years.

I am with Whup. I was at the '91 & '92 D2 games. Went to Frisco in '15 and watched the Nawlins Bowl on TV... Cockygolfer is correct. We would not have had the chance if the previous two experiences had not happened. Can I vote for 2 at the same time? If so, mine would be the '92 natty and this bowl game.

"yes, I'll take a #1 please, a #2 with no ice and a #3 with extra Hard Edge. Go ahead and supersize the #3 for me please".

They all have their place. Spectacular in their time. So for me it's next year's conference championship.

I didn’t follow Jax State until I went to school there in the mid to late 2000’s. So, I missed the natty. The 2015 was a nice run but ended not in our favor. This year was amazing. A year of firsts. First year in the FBS, first bowl game appearance, first bowl game win, and first FBS All American. I think we will remember this one for a long time.

I was at the 1992 championship game, but I was only 2 and obviously don’t remember it. I was a student and in the stands for each of those home playoff games in 2015 and rushed the field after that 62-10 shellacking we gave SHSU. I was there this past weekend in New Orleans.
New Orleans felt so much bigger than that 2015 run to me. It seemed to me that was the moment that we finally “made it.” The moment when the Jax State brand extended well beyond the confines of East Alabama/West Georgia.

In my opinion the overall satisfaction of this game surpassed the Ole Miss and FSU upsets. A way to describe this first bowl win is that we’ve officially made it to the big kids table.

Those were fun and about when I started becoming a JSU fan, also the close game with Auburn. We're making good progress to catch up to Liberty and the other G5 powers but we're not quite there yet

Why all the poor mouthing. We just finished a year, year one were in the top half of the G5. At the very least you can say is that we are a solid G5 team. Do we have to win it all to be a G5 level team?

Who are you referring to? Perhaps I misunderstand but it seems people are always talking about how far we have to go. Rather than taking a moment to acknowledge where we are.
