All of the games mentioned were huge for the program, and I think this one was up there at the top. Here's a story that brings home the point that unless you are playing on the big stage, you are not even an afterthought. You are not thought of at all.
I was standing in the security line at the Superdome and a UL fan was behind me. He was probably in his 50's and I assume a football fan. He asked me about our team because he had NEVER heard of us. This is after all the previous wins that are listed in this poll and 120 years of playing football. All of the years we spent in D2 and FCS just do not register at all with the average football fan. It is like we have never existed until this year. He was polite and was genuinely interested. When I tried to explain that we have been around for a long time. He asked who our rival was. He obviously knew troy state because of the Sunbelt, but it was hard to explain how we haven't played them in 20 years or so.

I would have to agree that all those other games helped get us to this game. This bowl game was perhaps the biggest one for the school. Personally, having been at the ‘92 game and those previous attempts at a trophy, that was my biggest one.
But I’d like to add the ‘77 natty. Even though we lost after suffering a devastating injury to our star QB, Bobby Ray Green, that game really announced our presence nationally. It was our first live nationally televised game (the semi-final was tape delayed. I attended it with my older brothers in Anniston and made it home in time to watch it on TV). It also occurred 4 months after my dad passed away, which is why my brothers had taken me to the game. They are 10 and 11 years older than me, so we rarely did many things like this - just us three brothers. I didn’t really appreciate it then, but they stepped in and stepped up for me. The next week, we all gathered in front of our TV to watch our hometown team play. When Green went down, we were at first afraid for his life as it was several minutes before he moved a muscle. Then we realized the mountain the the team was facing. One they were unable to get over unfortunately.
It was also the season after my friend and classmate, Greg Mayfield, lost his dad, Head Coach Clarkie Mayfield, while trying to rescue people from a fire. What Coach Fuller and that team did in approaching that season and fighting to the finish would have made Coach Mayfield proud. It made my 11 year old self proud to be from Jacksonville, Alabama. It taught me that no matter how the deck got stacked against you, no matter the hardships in this life, you fight through the finish and, win or lose, you don’t give up and you finish strong.

I was at all 3. 1992 means more because I was student at that time and it was my University. This is not to say that 2015 and New Orleans were not proud moments for me as an alumni. All three have meaningful storylines and associated memories but at different times in my life. This is the same as for JSU Football's history.

92 I did not know anything about JSU . The FCS championship I was excited about. This bowl was awesome . I think however what meant the most for JSU football was the win at FSU . I think that win open the door for CUSA

The biggest reason we got invited is because UAB was gone and CUSA wanted to keep the Birmingham market. We could have lost to FSU and still gotten the invite.

Ill go of the three 92, then the bowl. Frisco wasnt much fun from the host town, the entrance and the game. Florence and NOLA we won which also makes them much better.
More people saw the Bowl game than either of the other games but thats not what makes it fun for me personally. I have differnet desires than the university. The bowl was the biggest for the university.

I will take , private schools located in Bham for 500 Alex . What is Samford. If that’s true , why wouldn’t they just invited Samford? Much like LU and they have money as well .

Because Samford can't draw flies.

Samford doesn't have fans, a stadium or a football team that can compete with ours.
