at a better position than Troy and South Alabama for non P5 schools. UAB is ahead of us. To come into FBS and win our bowl game and not get mopped up in our first year says a lot to me .
Troy has fallen and they can’t keep a coach . Any success they have their coach is on the first train out . My concern about CRR isn’t if he leaving but how long can he coach for . I don’t he leaves us because of his age . Just don’t know what happens after CRR . I do know we can’t be like Troy and lose coaches like they do .
Merry Christmas

You misspelled troy state.
I wish I could agree with you about being ahead of them but they have been back to back conference champions. Until we win the CUSA, we can't claim that. South has also greatly improved and is pretty solid right now. I can't say we are ahead of them yet - maybe on par. I think we are ahead of UAB because they are fractured. Until they can get on the same page behind a coach they believe in, I think we will continue to pass them.
I hope we keep CRR for a long time. I like the way he coaches and he has a system solidly in place right now. I don't think coaching consistency is as important as it used to be though. The portal has changed all of that.

More in agreement with brother, losing your coach means you have done well. CRR would have to listen to any good offer and maybe we will not lose him to another G5. I do believe we have a better deal to sell than any of the others. Our location gives us a big advantage as we have twice as many people within a couple hour drive than any other Alabama G5 school.

When it comes to FBS hierarchy, it's Alabama, Auburn.... and then Troy, UAB. I think a strong argument is there that we're ahead of South Alabama though.
Troy has been around the FBS a long time now, gained a lot of fans and support, and has built the best collection of sports facilities I've seen among the G5... and in that time have gone to multiple bowls, multiple 10+ win seasons, multiple P5 wins, multiple conference titles, and have been ranked a few different times. We've got a long way to go to catch up. Doing what Liberty is currently doing will do wonders to move us up the state hierarchy though.
It doesn't help that TSU is about to become an R2 research institution within the next year or so either. The state has helped them secure millions of dollars in grants to put toward research and building research facilities.

All the while losing enrollment at an alarming rates. It is hard to understand with all of the money spent students are not wanting to attend.
