Not a lot. There hasn't been huge business buy in yet.
We're behind UAB and Troy, I do know that.

I talked to Greg the summer before RR 1st game.
He said we had $10,000.00
He did say that Ed Lett was moving to control NIL. If I understood him right, Ed was going to have to leave the University position he was in. NIL could not be handled by a University entity. This way Ed could control the NIL.
Think that's how he put it.
Now with Ed in that position, I'm sure that number has increased. Basically, this conversation was a little over 1 1/2.

Think that's how he put it. Now with Ed in that position, I'm sure that number has increased. Basically, this conversation was a little over 1 1/2. There needs to be more businesses that get memberships with the collective. That's the biggest key. There just hasn't been a lot of businesses getting involved yet.
UAB had $100,000 back in August. Of course they have an advantage being in heart of Birmingham.
Troy wasn't far off from that either. They raised $11,000 through their NIL Collective in about two weeks, just for their beat writer who was diagnosed with cancer. Granted, that's a little different than normal giving... but it shows they've got some money power down in the armpit of Pike County.
One thing to know is that UAB, Troy, JSU, and USA all use their collective for current players only. The schools do not use it for recruiting players, simply because there isn't enough money to do so. It's more effictive to pay your star QB $5,000 and hope he see's that as sufficient, versus paying $30,000 for a good QB transfer and using up a majority of your funds.
There are very few G5 schools that can actually recruit using NIL. The ones that have enough money to do so (as of November) are Tulane, UNLV, San Diego State, Boise State, Memphis, JMU, Toledo, and Appalachian State. Liberty would probably make that list also by now if I were to guess.

I don't entirely disagree -- whatever our country stars can do will help and will certainly be appreciated -- but all four of those guys, Randy, Jamey, Riley, and Gordon, have gone above and beyond the last 4-5 years. It'd be nice to see some other businesses step in and carry some of the load.

It has to be good for something other than increased traffic lol

It has to be good for something other than increased traffic lol Among other things, multiple fundraising concerts. One big one after the tornado, and another one last fall. Riley bought the naming rights ($$$$$) for the new weight training and conditioning facility. Randy has given gobs of cash over the years (in addition to his service as a member of the BoT) both to athletics and on the academic side of things. (Most recently, planting the seed cash for the Randy Owen Center, aka ROC, now under construction back behind the library.) My point wasn't that they've done everything they ever need to do ever. Just that they've all done a lot in recent years. JSU really needs to tap an additional funding source beyond those we're already suckling. We have several very successful alumni out there, and some of them DO give a lot. But some don't. (Or at least, have only done it quietly.) And even though we have a lot of "teachers and nurses" as graduates, it IS possible to reach them for greater giving. It just needs to be done in a way JSU hasn't quite mastered. I'm afraid I don't have the answers there, or I'd apply for the job myself. LOL.

We need corporate sponsorship, if Ed cannot get it done. We someone new and fresh to get it done.
