We could just call the P5 teams what they actually are/will become... the NFL Minor League, with its own versions of AFC/NFC divisions/playoffs & minor league Super Bowl. Then we can have G5 take over the position of real college football with real student athletes, playing for the love of the game & free college, keeping that tradition alive. Or not. Lack of sleep makes the mind think crazy things. Seems like that possibility has flown the coop with yesterday’s ruling that Dartmouth athletes are university employees and can now unionize. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Agreed, unfortunately, & totally expected. I've not heard or read anything that suggests to me college football's best days are ahead. The more NFL-like it becomes, the closer I get to turning it off for good.

LOL ... so Dartmouth players -- who signed to a NON-SCHOLARSHIP Ivy League school -- sued so that they can have union representation to negotiate salaries and working conditions? And won? Put a fork in the NCAA. It's done. If non-scholly schools aren't immune, there's no hope for the rest of us. These athletes have eliminated "jobs" for countless peers at less well financially-situated colleges and universities. And they probably think they came out on top. Sheesh.

I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but American society has become extremely shortsighted. See the whole “sanctuary city & defund the police situations. Who would have ever thought that those cities would have increased crime. We are probably headed toward “club” teams only for any non-revenue producing programs including non-P-whatever football and non-perennial power major b-ball programs. Less opportunity for student-athletes to participate, fewer options to get a free/discounted education, fewer coaching opportunities for less pay overall. No need for GA’s at non-Power schools. Etc. Just listening to yesterday’s The Next Round and they brought up an interesting point. So when the guys are made employees and have contracts, will there be trades? Can you even imagine someone’s 18 year old son getting sent with two of his teammates from Auburn or Tuscaloosa to maybe UMass for some once in a lifetime, hotshot prospect that signed with the Minutemen for a bunch of cash. UMass is willing to unload his contract in return for two or three Freshmen with smaller contracts. I think I’m with Slim as much as it pains me to say it. If this is where we’re headed, just separate the athletics from the academics. This is so gonna kill the non-revenue sports, which, as the parent of a former D-II swimmer, I hate. I think I have it cued up here: overcast.fm/+xH7HmttpE/31:44Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The looming landscape of college football would make a good episode for the Twilight Zone.
