I havent counted but they will have to make sure there are enough votes in Congress to eliminate problems.
Hope Mike votes against the measure and all of our Senators and Reps. Have no idea of their thoughts but if these universities want to be businesses for profit then treat them as such.

The problems they see are schools like us. They don't want to play us or share revenue with us.

But they say they are doing all this for the sake of college athletics and the student athlete. So no worries about selfish motives.

The P2+M2 (and maybe the 2PAC) want to cut out the G5 from the CFP except in those very rare occasions when a G5 team cracks the Top 10. This is to avoid having a team like Liberty getting blown out in the playoffs, when there are strong, deserving teams like FSU available to take that slot instead.
To make doubly sure that the CFP is safely free of G5 teams, they own a good chunk of the media, so a 3-4 loss SEC or Big Ten team will almost always get the benefit of the doubt when it comes to rankings ahead of an undefeated G5.
G5 proponents have suggested adding a sort of G5 play-in game for the 12th spot. There are two downsides to that plan. First, there's no time on the calendar for an extra game, unless G5s do away with CCGs. Second, it means G5 teams would not only have to play teams with more funding and resources available (and usually deeper rosters), but they would have to play one additional game than their P2/M2 counterparts, opening them up to further chance of attrition due to injury.
With that in mind, people more sympathetic to the plight of G5s have been proposing we forego the CFP completely, in favor of a G5 championship game.
So basically, your "power" schools would be grouped together in one "subdivision" of FBS. Let's call it "Division I-A" for clarity.
The other members of FBS would be grouped in a second "subdivision" which would play for its own national championship. We could call it "Division I-AA".
This is a new, novel idea, and almost certainly has never been tried before in the last 46 years. It's innovative thinking such as this which will keep the NCAA strong and vibrant for at least 1/3 of the remainder of the 21st century, give or take a decade or two.

This requires a change of name for the “Football Championship Subdivision” as it would no longer be the only subdivision with a championship. Maybe just call it Division II? Oops, that’s already taken and it would mess with that b-ball thing. Maybe Division I-AAA?
And this is why it was important to make the jump up when we did, to avoid the automatic demotion when this comes to fruition.

And this is why it was important to make the jump up when we did, to avoid the automatic demotion when this comes to fruition. In all seriousness... In the age of the CFP, the FBS/FCS names no longer have any real validity. I mean, you can argue that FCS is still the only "NCAA" championship, but when you have 12 teams taking part in the playoffs, you're a de facto championship subdivision now. It's not just bowl games plus a single championship game. This requires a return to the cryptic roman numerals, hyphens, and letters of yore: P2+M2+2PAC (arguably) equals the old Div. I-A. G5 equals the old Div. I-AA. We're on the positive side this time, along with troy state, Ga Southern, App State, etc. Hooray! It's easy up to this point. But FCS doesn't QUITE equal Div. II, thanks to the b-ball thing you just mentioned. So I guess we'd have to go with Div. I-AAA. These teams still compete in unhyphenated Div. I for all other sports, but in football, they compete for a third tier championship. The old Div. I-AAA designation used to be used for D-I teams playing non-scholarship football. I don't know if D-I-AAAA is the correct answer here. You can't call them D-II or D-III though, since those labels would carry over to the entire athletic department. And you don't want a weird mix of "D-III for football and D-I for everything else" if you can help it. I think you'd just have to go with "non-scholarship Div. I-AA" for these schools. Not everything has to have a short, sweet abbreviation. I guess if they absolutely require one, call it D-IAA-NS. This would allow D-II and D-III to carry on as usual. D-II would just be in a severely weakened state versus what it was back in the late 80s. Nothing we can do to help that, though. Blame West Georgia for leaving. LOL.

IF: The top division keeps on the semi pro track they are on and IF: The G5 et al.... Retain as much of college football as possible given the morons who keep mucking it up.
THEN: I say good riddance and dont let the door knob hit ya where the good Lord split ya.
But I fear the G5 will simply try to mimic the idiots driving the boat.

I mainly fear that when the P4¼ split does occur, the revenue flow into G5 will dry up. There will be no fat TV contracts. There will be no fat paydays for playing P5s. Most (if not all) of our best coaches (including JSU's) will immediately move to where the money is, with very few exceptions -- mainly those nearing retirement or just starting out. Regardless, the infrastructure will no longer be in place to pay million dollar salaries to head coaches ($4M if you're Liberty) with million dollar staffs. There *is* a way to make it work, of course. But getting there will take some guts and knowhow. And when it comes to the NCAA, both are in short supply.

So yeah it's going also. Unless of course their are media companies fox ESPN CBS sports that get left out an need product to televise.

We could just call the P5 teams what they actually are/will become... the NFL Minor League, with its own versions of AFC/NFC divisions/playoffs & minor league Super Bowl. Then we can have G5 take over the position of real college football with real student athletes, playing for the love of the game & free college, keeping that tradition alive.
Or not. Lack of sleep makes the mind think crazy things.
