I remember some packed houses back in the GSC days against Delta State and West Georgia particularly. How many seats did we lose in the renovation? 1,800. Totally worth it, imho.

That’s nice seeing the place packed with fans but how many of those became students ? How many those signed or sign with us ?

No clue, but like leeroy said, im sure some do, & I would guess it's not an insignificant number. I think, as seems obvious from the admin & AD's continued hosting & support of the event, media coverage & such, that at minimum it's considered great PR AND MARKETING. There, I said the M word, & I won't take it back. 😁

If you dont do it your not promoting the university. If you do do it then your wasting university resources, appears its a no win for the management team.

Respectfully...depends on how you define 'wasting' regarding university resources. If we spend X dollars on bill boards, graphic designers, videographers, photographers (well, strike that one), etc., are those dollars & associated resources wasted if used to portray JSU in a positive way to a mass audience? Since many on the forum have been critical of the lack of marketing effort by JSU for years, I'm not sure how we can say a concerted effort to reach hundreds (thousands?) of potential customers (students & parents) by utilizing a resource (the Pete) we already have, with minimal use of University employees/money, & minimal disruption to the campus as a whole, a waste.

I mean if it was a benefit why isn’t other universities trying to get it ? I’m just asking questions. Can’t learn knowledge until you ask questions.

Turning every post you make into a call to fire someone is still funny to me, so I'm probably going to keep doing it.

Red, I believe the benefits question has been given a fair airing in other posts in this thread. As to why other universities don't do it, if my memory from my photojournalism days (admittedly a few decades ago), is accurate, there are other universities in the state that host high school tourneys. I apologize if I'm wrong on that, but regardless, I don't see how it would affect the previously discussed benefits for Jax State.

The other regionals are in Montgomery, Birmingham, and in Hanceville at Wallace State. The Birmingham one is at Bill Harris Arena.

And when you expand the search to other sports, you find regionals and state events at other colleges. I bristle when I hear local high school kids (and fans) say something like, "I can't wait to get to troy (sic)!" They're of course speaking of the EVENT at that location, and not attending the school. Same energy though. In all seriousness, when my son was still in high school, we had to go to troy state every 2-3 weeks for his track events. It was at one of those where I spotted the most beautiful site in the world: a troy state student wearing a "WHUP JAX STATE" shirt. It made me smile.

You should have found out their name so we could name a building after them or street .
