Alabama high schools use our Pete for their basketball tournament?
If we benefit, how do we benefit ?

I went to the women’s game last Wednesday night after the high school games that day. On the table going in I saw brochures about the university. So they are using the influx of high school students from NE Alabama to market (there’s that word again) what Jax State has to offer.
I would also imagine the AHSAA is paying for the use of the facilities. And while not a direct benefit for Jax State, there is a substantial boost to the local economy from visiting fans.

What troysux said. I'll add this: When the tournament is going on, social media is inundated with posts about how awesome a venue the Pete is when packed with fans. When you have (one of) the smallest arenas in the conference, that's the sort of buzz you want recruits to hear. We may not have NMSU or UTEP's 12,000-seat capacity, but we DO have a basketball arena that delivers a distinct home-court advantage. It's not a huge deal -- especially now in the age of NIL -- but it's one more ace up our sleeve. We need every advantage we can get, and the county and AHSAA tournaments provide one.

Having a team goal to get to Jacksonville is always a good thing.
What would you say is bad about hosting the tournament?

We definitely have a practice court at The Pete. And even if we didn't, Kennamer has a gym.

It’s the most packed you will ever see the Pete. Always enjoyed stopping by a student to watch a true student section

So was I. An epic beatdown in a packed house. I think Steve cried after the game.

I remember some packed houses back in the GSC days against Delta State and West Georgia particularly. How many seats did we lose in the renovation?
