I think it will make it harder for everyone. Most people give money like this for a deduction for tax liability. Did made the same ruling for donation for tickets for sporting events.

This ruling will clip the wings Bama Oregon Texas etc.. will still get plenty of nil cash. Frankly I'm happy with this and anything that will reel in on the professionalization of college football. Which is what nil is a scam to make players professional. To buy your way in legally. Rather than punish those who cheat. It was never about the player and always about the school and it's supporters. If a few player get rich that's simply a side effect.
