It should've been done in the first place.
That said... apart from helping to keep athletes safe from NIL predators (and themselves) it's going to benefit the following:
1) Major Power Greed programs with tens of millions of devoted athletic supporters. (Surprise!)
2) Lower tier programs located in major metropolitan areas with access to a plethora of potential NIL partners, so long as those programs are perspicacious enough to pursue those partnerships. PPPPPPppppppppp. So for example, a lower tier program like Tulane could go after sponsorships with multiple corporations in the New Orleans area, then act as a middle man, connecting those companies to athletes in need of NIL money. This benefit can filter down to schools in cities as small as Birmingham or even El Paso. Once you get to towns smaller than 500K, it will really require a strong, devoted team of salespeople. And the required strength of that sales team is inversely proportional to the size of the town.
So where does it leave JSU? Jacksonville (pop. 14K) will really need an amazing team to make this work. Even if we expand the sales area (as we should) to Calhoun County (pop. 116K) or surrounding counties (just south of 500K, if you include the western half of St. Clair), we're operating from a position of relative weakness. Only a crack sales team will be successful. But not a team of crack salesmen. Those guys work for UTC, out of that building next to Finley Stadium.

We should have been 50 years ahead of this. Imagine we were far sighted instead of the JSU tradition of not looking past today. We should have made our mark on west Ga 50 yrs ago. We've always recruited student from here but yet no. An I mean No indication of Jax St. We should have claimed this area all the way to Atlanta and made it ours. Not a indication of JSU anywhere. I can't wait to start seeing KSU stuff here in East Alabama.

Sadly, I think the odds of me winning the lottery are higher than this scenario coming to fruition, & I don't play the lottery😁.
