Only JSU fans could see this type of investment and be mad about it. We will come out of this with a much more impressive facility - smaller or not. Keep in mind, we still have room to grow in the east end zone if it ever becomes necessary. Sadly there is a small segment of “fans” who never miss a chance to complain. They can only find happiness by being unhappy.

That's just dumb. We're not talking about your new bathroom. It's a major investment for the future. It's rather short sighted to invest only to find yourself lacking in the very near future, now is the time to prepare for 20yrs or more ahead. Would you get married and build yourself a one bedroom apartment? Only if your shortsighted and or impotent.

This sounds like the argument that was probably made by the fans of all the other low tier FBS teams that only ever fill their stadiums to 50% capacity. "One day they'll come" "Gotta prepare for the future" "We'll be big shit one day" Give me quality over quantity.

Large empty stadiums are unattractive. The best places to be to watch a game are those that are packed. JSU's fanbase isn't getting any younger and the enrollment isn't getting any bigger. It would be dumb to have a 50k stadium with 18k showing up.

That's what I said 50k. Why not drop to 12k and fill every game? We'd be big shots then every game a sellout. Better to aim higher in life and fail to reach your goal than to aim for mediocrity and fail to reach your goal. Perhaps mediocrity suits some?

JSU's fanbase isn't getting any younger and the enrollment isn't getting any bigger. This is honestly one of the most overlooked things involving JSU right now. We have a lot to improve on the non-athletics front that has the potential to increase enrollment. It's something that's probably best for another thread but if JSU put as much emphasis into providing better academics as they do improving the athletics we'd be a much better University. JSUs real issue right now isn't our stadium, our soon to be perennial 7-4 football team, or anything dealing with athletics. It's that we don't have anything that separates us from any other university in the state. The motto is Just Show Up for a reason and truthfully what I'd appreciate more than a new football stadium is if JSU would quit devaluing my degrees. You improve academics, you raise the standards, then you build higher retention. And guess what, that would lead to more donations from alumni down the road. Just figured I'd keep with the quality over quantity theme tonight.

I think your age is showing. I think the stadium expansion is an innovative approach to solve problems on both fronts, which seems a leap in thinking from years past. The only qualm I have would be if the plan is now to limit our growth on either front.

I think it is a misprint. There will be more seating with the end zone and atrium. It will definitely be nicer.

Hope sightlines are considered this go around. If we are going to 20 then there will be no FBS in JSU future. With the dorms surrounding the stadium, not much opportunity to expand. Yes you can add to the endzone but another 10-20000 seats?

The majority of students will still load their dirty laundry in their cars and head to mom & dads house for the weekend. Typically after classes on Thursdays. Unless the old moniker of it being a "suitcase college" isn't true anymore and the student body stays on campus during the weekends? I'll wait here...

Even if we go FBS and start winning multiple Aspen Dental Bowls, we're not going to draw a significantly larger crowd. App State leads the Sunbelt with around 25k. We already have 3-4 gimmick days that inflate numbers to where they are now.
This doesn't mean I don't enjoy going to JSU football games.
