Please tell me I'm misunderstanding and you aren't actually telling me that we should model our growth plan off Walmart. Of course not. But Walmart knows how to optimize profit, they don't build tiny buildings and and rely on rising prices to increase profit. I'd say it has worked very well for them. I suppose you wouldn't remember a world before Walmart. On the other hand seats offered quality products at much higher prices. Which would you rather be. There's a reason I don't shop at Walmart. It's because you get what you pay for. You've seen the type of people that shop at Walmart. Those arent the type of people I care to base the future of the university on. Despite the fact that grocery stores and college football is about as apples/oranges as you can get.

We must position ourselves not copy someone else. You should build your house to accommodate your future needs.
We need the ability to grow. We have one of the highest attendances in fcs g5 level attendance that will grow if we move up. One plan turns those new fans away the other leaves room for them.
Your young I assume your married I don't know but would you build a one bedroom house without the ability to expand, expecting that you'll have a family. You would plan for the future and so should jsu.

The guy who lives on both sides of you almost assuredly goes there.

I wouldn't build a 1 bedroom house the same way I wouldn't build a 20 bedroom mansion with a foundation made of playdough and a frame made of bulsawood. Would it be cheap? Hell yeah. But it's also way too much house and it's going to fall apart as soon as the wind blows. And the wind will blow.

No we all go to Meijer up here because Walmart can't compete.

I perceive this debate has reached it's natural end. Increase or decrease in size enough has been said to allow people to form their own opinions.

Nationally ranked Coastal Carolina this year with two home games: 16,236 17,297 Liberty: 15834 18471 The move to FBS did absolutely nothing for attendance for these schools. App State has slowly built their numbers up but they also have the championships to show for it. The move to FBS probably has less to do with selling more game day tickets and more to do with increasing name recognition nationally, thereby increasing enrollment, tuition, and ultimately, income. It is a business. I see both sides of this debate, but I keep thinking about how much money the NCAA left on the table the last five or six years of the FCS Championship game in that tiny soccer stadium simply because they don’t want it to “look empty” on TV. Meanwhile, NDSU fans have a nice little scalping business to pay for their trip south in January. I’m not sure what exactly is gained by not having an empty stadium other than a fun atmosphere that people want to be a part of, but I am sure that they’ve lost a good bit of potential revenue because they didn’t have inventory to sell. Somewhere in the middle is the happy medium of almost full stadium with occasional sellouts, but still room to accommodate all fans that want to pay to attend most games. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk As you said, it's a business. You gain money by being able to increase prices. That money is then used to improve the product further. Increasing demand again. And then at the point where expansion is necessary, you are able to do it knowing that your investment will be utilized and growth is organic. You mentioned building a brand; I don't necessarily equate that to how many butts are in a seat. It's more than that. It's the sum of the quality of the product you have and willingness people have to pay for it. A lot of people don't like hearing that college sports are a business, but that doesn't change the fact that it is. As it stands now, our game days are pretty good for the FCS. Our success has been pretty good for the FCS. But it hasn't been elite. We don't have ESPN GameDay coming to campus because our fanbase isn't rabid enough. Our brand isn't big enough. People still think we're an HBCU in Florida with Dieon as HC because, yeah we're good, but we aren't elite. There's a distinction between volume and quality. And in business, Quality is King.

Good crowd yesterday. Entire visiting side was probably 10% full. You guys arguing over capacity? Uh, plenty of empty seats already.
