The two at UAB would be at the bottom of my list if those are the only ones under consideration. UAB has had some of the same issues we are having with penalties so no reason to continue traveling down that path. Plus UAB recruiting hasnt been great the last few years. Who ever is responsible for the QB selection does not need to be our guy. The DC is probably just a title as I would expect Bill to be all over the defensive side of the ball. Never heard of the McIntyre guy and know very little about Memphis. IMO I feel like the UAB names are just going after some low hanging fruit. Let’s don’t push the easy button on this. Low hanging fruit? I like fruit but neither of these appear too appealing. McIntyre and Applewhite would be what I would call a low hanging fruit, someone with HC experience who had limited or very little success. Bring them in for a few years then fire them and move on.

What has South done to make Applewhite look good? Applewhite looks like crap to me. McIntyre appears to have has some success in his various positions. But only some.

According to Wikipedia he has a terribly foul mouth and was fired once for sexually harassing his assistant who he apparently had an extramarital affair with, who sued him but the case was later thrown out.

Crazy thing is ive heard its gonna be rich rodriguez how would yall feel about him If your going the former HC route, his name is at least known. Sounds like a safer bet than the UAB asst or Applewhite.

Crazy thing is ive heard its gonna be rich rodriguez how would yall feel about him Didnt he turn down UAT? If so tells you he isnt the brightest bulb in the pack. He accepted the job and then Paul Finebaum made fun of his wife on the air for looking like Tammy Faye Baker. Rodriguez called Mal Moore and rescinded his acceptance. He was a bit harsh and ugly, though Rita does get her hair color from a bottle and had an affinity for mascara and spray tans. It was a bullet dodged for Alabama (and may have been Finebaum intentionally throwing a wrench)... Moore wanted Saban but Bama's power brokers didn't think he would accept so they panicked and went after Rich Rod. Of course, once Saban got to Tuscaloosa he ran the powerbrokers out of the program. I can't see him at JSU, but he wouldn't be the worst recycled failed HC from a P5 school we have hired. Honestly, he would probably do pretty well at JSU, however he is culturally the polar opposite of CJG and there would be a seriously hard culture shock that could result in a few terrible seasons, player transfers, etc. On second thought... he is probably not a good fit from a cultural standpoint. We need someone closer to Grass morally but with an edge.

RichRod is a known name so that gets us some publicity. His past intervention In Tuscaloosa might not be good from a PR standpoint in this state.
He had a lot of success at West Virginia, sucked at Michigan, and was so-so at Arizona. The lawsuit is a concern but if was thrown out it shouldn’t matter.
ULM went 0-10 last year and is 4-7 now. They beat Liberty, troy state, and South Alabama. His son is a junior QB there.
He will be 59 in the spring. The hire wouldn’t bother me as I don’t care if his wife wears too much makeup. Also don’t care if he cusses at the players. I care if he wins.
McIntyre doesn’t impress me. He had two bad years at San Jose State and then went 10-2 his third season, which got him the Colorado job. He went 30-44 and got fired. His Wikipedia page says he is super-religious.
Of those two, I’d take RichRod. McIntyre would be way down my list.

Maybe if this is the true list we should consider High School coaches.

Whomever we hire I welcome them to bring some smoke - “Also don’t care if he cusses at the players. I care if he wins”.

Wright is an “offensive assistant” with the Giants. Yesterday they fired their offensive coordinator.

Sal Suneri does this guy want to take a try at Head Coaching. Would he do it for the same or less money?
Charles Kelly he was an asst at JSU before?
