List does look similar to the JSU "top" of the list candidates. Surprisingly, no recycled HCs on the list. Also no current HS coaches on either list. It is no secret that I thought Steve Smith would have made a good FCS coach for us... but I haven't even suggested it with the move to FBS. That said... I expect Piedmont to beat Saks and make the state title game. If they beat Montgomery Catholic, hire Steve. That is either a miracle or he is the second coming of Coach Bear Parsegian Switzer Warner Lombardi Shula Landry Ditka. Wow. Hope Coach BPSWLSLD never gets a trophy named after him. Can you imagine Bradshaw or one of the ESPN guys trying to say all of that on the stage during the ceremony after the game? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The two at UAB would be at the bottom of my list if those are the only ones under consideration. UAB has had some of the same issues we are having with penalties so no reason to continue traveling down that path. Plus UAB recruiting hasnt been great the last few years. Who ever is responsible for the QB selection does not need to be our guy. The DC is probably just a title as I would expect Bill to be all over the defensive side of the ball.
Never heard of the McIntyre guy and know very little about Memphis.

He played under Bobby Ross at GA Tech. He has coached at UTM and Ole Miss during our win against them in 2010, so he definitely knows about JSU. He has Power 5 head coaching experience that so many of you seem to want. He was national coach of the year in 2016 leading Colorado to 10 wins. He knows the recruiting territory, but so would the UAB guys also. I think we have some good candidates that can win here. It will probably come down to the interviews and the recommendations of others.

I hope the list is better than this. I don't think there is anyone on this list that would generate enough excitement to boost recruitment. It sounds Ho Hum to me. I especially hate the idea of hiring UAB assistants. I sure hope the list is alot longer than this.

We complained that John Grass was a "high school coach". His resume is much better than either of the UAB assistants and McIntyre. Steele is a snake. Applewhite has not been successful as HC but may be the best on this list. I'm hoping there's a page two of candidates that has yet to be released.

Legitimate point that these candidates may not be your first choice. Who would you like to see? Not legitimate that Grass’s resume was better than any of these candidates. He had one year of college experience as our OC. All of these candidates have much more college coaching experience than Grass had. Even if you are referring to Grass’ current resume, he has no FBS coaching experience.

Only one in that group appears to have any success. The others either work for uab or were fired for being losers.

Which is more valuable to have..Head Coaching experience ion the collegiate level or position/coordinator on FBS level? Personally, I want someone with head coaching experience. I think this helps with organization, recruiting, fund raising and overall performance. That's just my opinion. In that regard, Grass would be more valuable to a program. Of that list, Applewhite would be my choice even though his days as a Head Coach was not great (15-11). My list would also include: Rich Rodriguez, David Dean (UWG) and Jason Simpson (UTM).

First and foremost success. If your not successful why would anyone want you. If you show up to work things should improve if they do not it's probably you. Some on that list has not succeeded at all why in the world would we be looking to give them a chance to prove it wasn't them. Let's find someone who succeeds.
