I seem to remember Faucci's advice against mask wearing was due to shortages of them for health care workers. There may have been other statements that I am not aware of, but I do specifically remember that. I do remember some agencies recommending not wearing them early on, but not Faucci other than because of shortages. There has been conflicting information, no doubt. That is one reason I wrote that post... To share my own experience. Anecdotal evidence like Trump's hydroxy chloroquine personal use story (he took it and suffered no harmful side effects) is a good example of a logical fallacy. Lots of people took the drug viox for arthritis and it worked miracles. They testified it was safe. Like hcq it is a strong anti-inflammatory drug. My mother was among the 50,000+ who died from heart attacks caused by viox. I don't get the promotion of a drug with no pharmacological mechanism for fighting a virus being promoted for that purpose. Anyone should realize that a steroid plus an nsaid would be safer and more effective. Steroids are unsafe long term, but for short term use they are far safer than hcq. All hcq does is hight the inflammation. Multiple peer reviewed studies have found no statistical difference in treatment outcomes using it... Yet the president continues to promote it. The recent "white coat summit" of quack doctors paid for by a Trump PAC should cause people to wake up. Instead all I have seen are Trump supporters trying to use it as credible and waxing indignant when their social media platform of choice censors their post. My Taiwan story is not fallacious because while it is a personal observation, it is massive in scope. I only hope that someone reads what I wrote and a light bulb switches on. Sorry... I have gotten more political than I intended. It is just so frustrating to not be able to visit home because of this disease, while we live in a country that got it under control quickly. Know several people locally who did take hcq and recovered much easier and quicker than those who did not. Have a friend who is a Dr with the Mayo clinic and he took the drug. The Mayo Clinic isnt some run of the mill medical organization. The Henry Ford Health System would also disagree with you that it isnt of value. www.detroitnews.com/story/news/local/michigan/2020/07/02/michigan-henry-ford-health-study-finds-hydroxychloroquine-lowers-covid-19-death-rate/5365090002/ A healthcare professional will have to acquire the drug for someone to receive a dosage, so I would let the persons doctor make the decision. Hcq is almost impossible to find now, anyways. But for every story you hear one way you can find another on the opposite side. This conversation is a great example of the problem. Comes back to Trump, hes not a doctor and is getting his information from someone. But if you take his advise over the guy at the coffee round table in your hometown then you need to suffer or get some help as neither are probably creditable in the medical field. I would say the same thing about Pelosi and Shumer telling you to go to China in February. Judge peoples opinion on their motives.

Feel free to keep defending him but the guy said No to everyone wearing a mask. I can go back and get more from others but if it doesnt meet someones political agenda .... www.c-span.org/video/?c4867816/user-clip-fauci-asked-masksI waiting for someone to just say we dont know but we are going to try this for awhile. And hope it works. King, as you posted there is data from countries our leaders could reference to support some ideas.

I guess that was before they knew how easily it was transmitted. I didn't wear a mask until my job made me because it's not something I've ever really done before. What really would have helped is an absolute 2 week lockdown and not a Lowe's and Walmart exemption.

China lied about transmission of the virus. I'm not a conspiracy theorist but I do believe China intentionally allowed Covid-19 to escape so that other countries would suffer like they had. They spread misinformation to WHO and people based statements on it.

There was a definite mask shortage at the start of all this before companies started making trendy ones or Aunt Betty started sewing them. I do grocery delivery part time and masks were nowhere to be found because of the initial hoarding. Same thing with hand sanitizer and toilet paper, obviously. Now some hand sanitizers can be bad for you. Go figure.

The one who refused is back in the hospital. The stuff may not work everywhere but does seem to work here. I would take it from watching the effect other have had and local doctors are saying it is the best thing available.

Hcq is not an anti-inflammatory. It works against malaria by essentially making ones blood inhospitable or slightly toxic. The belief is that it has this effect on a virus also, thus hindering replication and defeating the virus.
It works and if you get sick I recommend you demand it immediately as this effect works best the earlier you take it, for obvious reasons. This is also the reason it works as a prophylactic.
I'd like to also add that it has little to no side effects and that the heart arrhythmia is greatly exaggerated. It was found to be safe for use in south African women who were pregnant and their fetus.
Do your homework and look it up.

HCQ is a zinc ionophore.
Zinc is toxic to nearly all viruses, but must be within the cell membrane to do the most good.
HCQ provides that pathway.
That's why the recommended therapy includes HCQ *and* elemental zinc.
Additionally, an antibiotic such as Azithromycin (Z-pack) or Doxycycline is recommended to fight secondary infections, such as those which lead to pneumonia.
Doxycycline has the added benefit of being a strong anti-inflammatory, and is generally safe for those with penicillin allergies.
HCQ does have some serious potential side effects, but those normally only rear their head when taken in high dosages for an extended period of time.
The recommended HCQ regimen for treatment of COVID-19 is a relatively low/moderate dose, taken for no more than 1-2 weeks.
Studies which showed a higher-than-placebo death rate either used HCQ in a much higher dosage or used it in patients whose ARDS had advanced well past the point at which HCQ would be effective. Few, if any, of those studies included zinc.
There are plenty of scientific papers out there now on HCQ. They can be a tough read if you're not used to it, and it's important to remember that even published, peer-reviewed papers can have major flaws in data collection and interpretation or methodology. (Even the ones you want to agree with.)
But anything's better than hoping to get current medical research news from Trump, the Cuomo brothers, or some 24-year-old journalism school grad writing for the NYT.

medlineplus.gov/druginfo/meds/a601240.html#:~:text=Hydroxychloroquine%20is%20in%20a%20class,activity%20of%20the%20immune%20system. Note the paragraph....why is this medicine prescribed It is not. It is an antimalarial drug and it functions in arthritis and lupus by suppressing the immune system and not by reducing Inflammation. And as I stated earlier it works for malaria by killing the parasite that causes it. It is believed this is the reason it is effective in covid 19. It creates an Inhospitable environment in a person's bloodstream for the virus to thrive thus allowing a person's body to win the war.

Questions for Dr. Fauci
This article is long but worth the time it takes to read it. Despite it's length is is easy to read and definitely relevant to these previous posts.

It creates an Inhospitable environment in a person's bloodstream for the virus to thrive thus allowing a person's body to win the war. I know what it is and what it does. It is anti-inflammatory. That is why it is prescribed for Lupus. It also affects the PH level of the cell and prevents viral replication to some degree... so does tonic water and countless other consumables. Hydroxychloroquine (Plaquenil®) Drug Information Sheet What is Hydroxychloroquine (Plaquenil®)? Hydroxychloroquine is used in the treatment of arthritis to help relieve inflammation, swelling, stiffness, and joint pain and also to help control the symptoms of lupus erythematosus (lupus; SLE). A common brand name for hydroxychloroquine is Plaquenil®. This medicine was originally used to prevent and to treat malaria. www.hopkinsarthritis.org/patient-corner/drug-information/hydroxychloroquine-plaquenil/The reason it helps in some instances with Covid19 is that the anti-inflammatory properties help to lower the chances of a cytokine storm. As Covid-19 causes severe inflammation in the lungs, that can save lives... but it is no more effective than many other combinations of safer drugs. It is not an antiviral, it does help reduce viral load in some instances by affecting the PH, but that is not the case in all, or even the majority of individuals, and other drugs (and even common home remedies) can do the same thing to some degree. I did MASSIVE research into HCQ months ago. What can I say, I am a nerd. Can it help? Sometimes, but no more than many many many other drugs and homeopathic remedies. In cases where they don't work, HCQ wouldn't work either. That is why the studies done have shown it to be ineffective.

You simply are wrong.
Hydroxychloroquine Common brands: Plaquenil Overview Description Immunosuppressive drug and Anti-parasite It can treat and prevent malaria. It can also treat lupus and arthritis. Brands: Plaquenil Availability: Prescription needed Pregnancy: No known risks Alcohol: Interactions can occur Drug class: Quinoline
It does not work to reduce Inflammation it works to prevent it by suppressing a patient's immune response, thus preventing the occurrence of a flare and Inflammation. It will not end or treat a fever headache or any other Inflammation. As you may already know sle lupus and arthritis are autoimmune diseases and this is the reason it treats these diseases by suppressing a persons own immune system and preventing a person's own body from attacking itself. Note that it works to prevent and not to treat a flare.
